"They cancelled the day before my stay."

No idea - they canceled my reservation before I could stay there.

They called me the day before my stay to say they did not have a room for me. The explanation was that booking.com has a slight delay and someone else booked my room before mine was reserved. What I don't understand is why no one contacted me in the 29 days since I made the reservation? I received plenty of emails confirming everything was set. My guess is that someone was prepared to pay more than I paid. Only thing I can imagine. I spent the day working with booking.com to find a new lodging.

The pictures on booking .com are incorrect, that is why I booked the hotel as pictures were completely different I thought they had upgraded it,change of Ower ect...but it wasn't, enclose picture of carpet,reception aware. If I had known would not of rebooked, felt unsafe there as a female solo visiting.

Location

Cold shower, bulbs out in bathroom very dark, shower connection was broken had to hold shower head in my hand. Blinds did not keep light out no curtains. Felt very much like a hostel and not what it was advertised as on website. Felt very misled.

I liked the contemporary yet historic vibe of the rooms plus the bedroom has comfortable beds and a few necessities such as wash set and coffee making facilities, a variety of good TV channels and toilets nearby. Great location with bars and restaurants. I didn't like that the room was cold and the radiator not working, also noisy until early hours but expected for its area. Also, the key box was broke so not very secure to deposit key on check out. Overall nice place to stay, more for groups or couples though not young families.
