The location is very good, not far from the slopes and also a walking distance to a lot of the bars and restraints. The team and the owner of the hotel are extremely nice and helpful, you feel they are family. I felt so much welcomed! Thanks for the good time!

The rooms are a bit old and the facility itself is very old and not well maintained. If you are a group of friend, young people or Solo travellers, its okay. Would not recommend it for picky families 🙂

The lodge was in a great location, close walk to the chairlift and in to town. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

If you’re looking for a simple budget-friendly winter stay in Hakuba then Hakuba Eagle Lodge is a solid choice. Our stay was made all the better thanks to Graeme, the friendly and helpful Aussie owner, who went above and beyond to assist us. He provided us with invaluable information about the area, the ski hills, and transportation options. He even offered to shuttle us around when needed, including one time when all taxis and Ubers were booked—truly a lifesaver for our family with kids and gear in tow! Pro tip: The H1 free shuttle bus stops right in front of the lodge, making it super convenient to get around. Plus, there’s an excellent gear rental shop right next door. Also check the Hakuba Valley website for Shuttle Bus Info—it’s a fantastic resource for transportation, ski hill comparisons, ski schools and more. The rooms are basic, clean, warm, and comfortable, providing just enough of what you need for a ski vacation. Make sure to pack your own toiletries, as these aren’t provided. Downstairs, the bar is a cozy hangout spot where you can grab a pizza, play pool, or enjoy video and board games. Breakfast each morning was hearty and filling, fueling us for action-packed days. The lodge is also ideally located—just a 10-minute walk to Happo-One and plenty of great restaurants in town. A heads-up for future travelers: The food and bar are cash-only, so plan ahead to avoid ATM hunts. The snow, of course, was the real star of the trip. Hakuba is an amazing destination, and this lodge served as a convenient and affordable base for exploring the area. The white mountain scenery was absolutely breathtaking and made this vacation one for the books as we wrapped up our 2024 with gratitude and awe. A huge thank you to Graeme and his family for their warmth and hospitality. Would definitely recommend Hakuba Eagle Lodge for anyone visiting this magical part of Japan in the winter!
