The River Hideaway

Jordan was an amazing host and quick to respond. He gave instructions on how to find the house. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet him in person since he had prior engagements. A perfect, peaceful and private place 20mins away from General Luna. Loved the calming touches, the little pool in a beautiful view of the river and forest. Have many places to sit, read and relax. The bed and sheets were all tidy and very comfortable, with fully functional AC. THE perfect place where I spent my birthday and would definitely be staying a little longer in here the next time I’ll be visiting Siargao.

No signal for both Sun and Smart sim. Only Globe users have signal. But nonetheless, I didn’t mind at all since my purpose also was to have a social media detox and focused on relaxing and just took all my time to see the beautiful view.

I love the villa’s design and aesthetics. There’s 2 identical looking villas, the only difference is the balcony of one villa has the net hammock and the other has the bamboo tap with bath tub. I stayed in the latter. The water from the tap and shower is salty but they’ve provide fresh water for drinking and rinsing. The view from the rooftop terrace and balcony/bedroom are to die for… river, trees, sunrise/sunset, bliss! We enjoyed many cups of coffee/teas and chats there. The free use of paddle boat was a great addition to the overall experience.

It’s not that I don’t like being in the middle of nowhere, sometimes it’s what we needed and I already know prior to booking that it’s going to be a bit far from the main tourist road but the gate wouldn’t shut and the lock was not working. I don’t feel it’s secured, not that the island is not safe but sometimes it’s just a nice reassurance that these things work. The solar powered light should help you see at night walking from the gate to the villa and vice Versa but only few of them are working. We only stayed for 2 nights so I didn’t bothered the caretakers about it. Also as I was emptying the small boat of water from the river, a small snake came up to me to say hi and swam back under the water, I ended up not paddling that day, although I had an amazing time cruising the river using the paddle boat the first time we got there.

Very relaxing place that allows for a good disconnect from your busy life. The house is nice and, despite being isolated, everything worked. The owner was really helpful before and during our stay. A completely different experience compared to the main tourist area of General Luna.

It's important to plan for your transportation and food. The food delivery service (Siargao delivery) didn't accept to deliver during our stay. Also plan for a back up internet if you depend on it. Like many things in the Philippines, it's not also always reliable.

What’s not to love!!! Everything was incredible. The balcony with the net was a lovely place to read and nap, the bed was super comfortable, the table counter encouraged work productivity, the kitchen had all the basic necessities, the outdoor shower, the ease of food delivery to the property, the free use of the boat and binoculars to explore the mangrove, the 1 min walk to the cold spring and more! We would definitely recommend this to everyone we know and would come back again for another stay. The host was responsive for questions on WhatsApp as well.

The insects - but it wasn’t a big deal because it was expected and they were not harmful at all.

Incredible views, a quiet place where you can hear all the birds. The owner help us in everything we asked for. You can take a boat for free to go by the river. Perfect stay.

What an amazing place! The river is SO nice to swim in, all secluded. Waking up to the jungle views is magical. Also one of the nicest showers I’ve ever had. Super comfy stay, we’ll be back!

Sadly we had super loud chainsaw noise from 8am - 6pm both days from workers over the river. Not villas fault, but it ruined our daytime experience, so consider asking in advance what to expect. Tub / pool on the deck is cold and orange sediment water from river, so it's ok but not what we expected.
