The Hills Studio Appartment

The rooms were incredibly clean and newly furnished. It is super close to the Ramana Maharishi Ashram and close to a lot of cafes and shops. Navin was always available to cater to all needs and help. I stayed here for nearly a month and I was super comfortable. Whenever i needed the room cleaned the cleaner was available. I hired a bicycle which Navin was kind enough to help store in his driveway too.

There needs to be complimentary water supplied especially for the price for the stay.

The rooms was simple but sufficient. Staff were helpful and easy to engage. The location is excellent.

The room was very clean, the linen was clean and in good condition. Good hot water, air conditioning and WIFI. Navin, the host, put a fridge in my room which was very helpful as I was there for 9 days.

I think it was overpriced. I paid just over 1700 rupees a night. I think 1000-1200 would be fairer and more appropriate. There were 2 small bottles of water on arrival then guests are supposed to buy their own. I spoke to Navin about it as everywhere else seems to supply water. He installed a big container on a stand but as he predicted, the monkeys got to it and knocked it over. At 30 rupees for a 2 litre bottle of water, I feel guests who are paying over 1700 rupees a night, could be provided with a bottle a day even if filled from the larger one which he could store safely in his accommodation.

Brand new, nicely built, perfectly clean, naturally cool, pretty good soundproofing, nice and welcoming host, and excellent location very close to the ashram and restaurants in the area.

Nothing - price was a bit high through online booking.

I had a wonderful stay here! The location is perfect , conveniently close to the busy area, which made me feel very safe and the room was clean with hot water available. Highly recommend this place.

The building is new, so the conditions were ok. The best asset was a spring bed, so far the first and only one I encountered on my 40-day journey. The AC worked well and there were enough electric sockets. The location is good, not too close to any road to have much noises reach you while you’re resting. At the same time it’s only a few minutes away from Ramana Asram and the entry point to Skanda trail leading to temples and caves on Arunachala. Automatically it’s near Girivalam route. There are some Western-customer oriented restaurants nearby, if that’s your thing.

The biggest fault of the place was a disorganized and frankly not very thoughtful owner (or whatever his position is). Firstly, at check in I was asked to change places (at the time I thought “rooms”) because of some maintenance work, on my last day of the 5 night stay. I thought switching rooms would not be that bad, but it turned out to be a different building (not far, but it demanded full packing and making it a major move), with lowers standard (a typical Indian hard mattress). Moreover I was woken up without any good reason on the day of the move, hours before it could actually be done. Bad luck had it that I had a night of bad sleep, so I had no chance to sleep it off, and once woken I could not go back to rest. The move was delayed by an hour past the official check in time at the other place, so half of my day was wasted. Also, I had some laundry done, and the owner had placed a rope very unintelligently next to a wall in the shadow, so despite overall high temperatures my clothes did not dry over two full days of hanging there (not to mention they actually got dirty from the wall itself).

Location is fantastic .. very close to ramanasramam. Spacious room. Not posh but great for a short stay
