Martello Bay Hotel

Location was very close to the Beach front , about 10 mins walk to the Pier and the restaurants .

The room with the sea view but very small and claustrophobic. There was not pleasant smell inside also which wanted us to just drop things then leave . The bathroom was ok newly installed but hot and very and small , the smallest double room oh we stayed it

I am very concerned how Booking.com advertises this property. We were on the top floor (4 flights of stairs). There is no Fire Escape in this property , there are Fire Escape signage but you actually have to run down the 4 flights of stairs and out of the front door . If there was a fire on the ground floor everyone would be trapped. I am considering contacting Tendring Fire Dept about this , it is not acceptable

Location was great, a ten min walk to the pier. A great locals pub across the bowling green, and easy to park.

The two things that i would recommend - softer pillows as they are rock hard and black out blinds as the sun was up at 4am, as were we.

Friendly welcome, escorted to room and everything explained very well. Room was clean and well appointed.

As I'd booked the last room available on the day, I ended up on the top floor and stairs can be hard work on my knees.

It was very clean and decorated beautifully. The fan in the light which was remote controlled was a nice touch. The owner was very helpful with carrying our case up and down the stairs. He was really friendly. It felt like home from home. The whole property was clean and tidy. It was nice that there was a fridge toaster and microwave in the room.

The mattress and pillows were too hard for me. I know some people like them like that. We would stay there again though.

The property was in an excellent location for a short walk to the theatres and the town centre. It is also a short walk to the beach. We could see the sea from our balcony. The property was spotless and a lot of thought had gone into the decor and facilities for the guests. We would stay again and would highly recommend. The parking is excellent too.

Lovely friendly family. Great location, clean, spacious, easy to access. Lovely extra touches in the room.
