"Memorable Stay"

10.0

What a property to stay in this was , steeped in history and not to mention the beautiful surroundings . It was nice not to be distracted by anything just open the window sitting there on a hot summer evening and just listening to and watching the wildlife of which there is much of in that area. This was a last minute booking that exceeded my expectations and for fans of Dylan Thomas and the welsh countryside its a must .also excellent communication from the host too.

Nothing negative to say about this stay.

"Excellent if you want to get away from it all."

8.0

The property is in a very quiet place and quite isolated (you only ever hear quiet traffic if the wind is in the right direction). While there is no TV, there is a very wide collection of books available. Good views from all windows allows you to just sit and watch the wildlife doing their thing (I should have brought binoculars). There is good broadband if required and a small table where you can sit to work. Parking is outside the front doot and you have your own entrance to go in. Breakfast is toast or cereal although Rolanda did supply me with yogurt on request. She is a woman after my own heart, real butter, organic whole milk, fruit conserve and a nice fresh baked sourdough loaf. I am sure if you have any requests she will do her best to accommodate you especially if you let her know before hand. Places to eat in the area are limited as many close early and others are not open on Monday. We can recommend the Chinese in Lampeter, which was very nice. We originally went to the Indian but they were very busy and had a long wait to get food. Both are restaurants so you can eat in but we chose to bring ours back. There are plates and cutlery in the breakfast room for just this purpose. We also ate at The New Celtic Restaurant in Aberaeron and enjoyed the food. They stay open until 8pm every day so if you go, parking is free after 6pm. You can also bring your own food. There is a fridge and microwave in the breakfast room and Lampeter has a decent Sainsbury's. It is open until 9pm but closes at 4pm on Sunday.

The room needed to be aired well before we got there as it was musty. It is an old building with a great deal of old furniture, all beautiful, and old buildings do sometimes have that smell but it was bad in the bedroom and sparked allergies until cleared. We left the window open all the time we were there as it was a lovely temp outside and we like fresh air.

"Good and bad"

4.0

Location great, quiet, countryside, Beautiful old house. The house is full of antiques, oil paintings and personal belongings, photos ect. The owner is really nice. Four poster Bed comfy. Just like a national trust property.

We didn't like the fact that the owners live in the property behind doors marked Private, these doors were often open and we could hear them, it's a beautiful old place and if you have ever been to a national trust property it was just like staying in one where the owners still live, it was weird and very uncomfortable. If we hadn't let someone stay in our house for a bit of respite we would have gone home day 1. Breakfast was left out in the dining/sitting room, bread cereal jam and homemade marmalade, not much of a selection we felt. A downstairs room opposite the sitting room was occupied by a family member, we felt like we intruders and found ourselves talking in whispers. The gate to the property is very narrow so if you have a bigger vehicle you might struggle. Nowhere to sit in the evening, the old armchair in front of the window was really uncomfortable. I didn't realize there was no TV, it's not in the listing but Wi-Fi is provided, I just assumed a TV would be standard. Door to the bathroom is really narrow.

"A tucked away quiet gem of a place"

This house was amazing, very atmospheric, you could feel the history in it, and everything was in keeping, the furniture, paintings books etc. No tv or particular mod cons which was fine with me. Fabulous 4 poster comfy bed.

It was all okay!
