The Moose Weligama

Amazing stay at The Moose, Weligama! We had a fantastic time at The Moose! The swimming pool is perfectly maintained, and the owner/manager is absolutely wonderful—always ready to help, offering great tips on places to visit, and even helping with tuk-tuk bookings. The rooms are spotless, air-conditioned, modern, and fully equipped for a comfortable stay. The common areas are spacious, clean, and well-maintained, and we loved the rooftop for enjoying delicious breakfasts with a view. A truly memorable experience—we can’t wait to come back! Highly recommended!

Very clean, well maintained property with pool, papaya trees, a community kitchen to use. The room size is great, there are high quality doors that reduce noise, many power plugs in the room and a well functioning air conditioning. It was very thought through when building it. It still seems very new and well in shape. Best WiFi connection we had in our entire trip. The host is very friendly, supportive and hospitable. We felt very welcomed.

Everything was perfect! When booking, you just have to be aware that the main beach is about a 20 minutes walk away (or 500 LKR with a tuk tuk).

We had a pleasure to spend several night at this place. It was very clean, comfortable and calm. The pool was great, especially for the kids to enjoy. Very helpful and social host. Would highly recommend.

The room was large and comfortable and it’s a quiet neighborhood. Restaurants and beach facilities are a short.Tuk tuk ride away. As a solo traveler, however I prefer to be able to walk.

We had a great stay at The Moose. Host Manoj was very friendly, and offered many things on top of the room. The property is located a little outside the centre of Weligama, but that keeps the noise to a minimum. Lots of birdsong can be heard here and it's only a 20 minute walk into the centre, or a short scooter/tuk tuk ride. There is also a lovely rooftop area with great views and an ample kitchen to make meals should you wish. The room was a great size, strong air con, plenty of hot water and the wifi was great. Thanks for a great stay!

I really loved my stay here! The Moose ist in a unique location in Weligama: Very close to everything, but still hidden enough from the main road so that it’s perfectly quiet and relaxed. The property is very well designed, modern, impeccably clean, and has everything you need: Kitchen, water and other basics always ready in the fridge, a wonderful pool with lounge chairs, laundry, AC, and a roof area to practice yoga or just enjoy the view. The owner really made me feel welcome and was so helpful with everything I needed (he even helped me to fix a broken backpack). And I got a wonderful local breakfast. Don’t think twice, this is a great spot to explore busy Weligama and relax at the same time!

The location is perfect! The host is really kind and friendly always willing to help us with anything and any time .

We were not satisfied fully by the cleaning experience, since on the first day of our arrival we found some small hair on the pillow case . Also there was not warm water . On our last day early in the morning, there was really strong smoke coming from the next house because they were burning something and it was unpleasant.

Our experience at The Moose was exceptional. The host was not only friendly but also went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. He helped us organize exciting trips and arranged reliable transportation. The room itself was spacious, immaculately clean, with comfortable beds. The large terrace provided breathtaking views and was a tranquil oasis. The air conditioning worked flawlessly, making our stay even more comfortable. The accommodation was located in a peaceful neighborhood, where we could enjoy a relaxing stay without the noise of the city. Yet, everything we needed was within walking distance, making it easy to explore the area.This was undoubtedly the best part of our Sri Lankan adventure and we will cherish the memories for years to come.

Next time we will definitely have to stay longer! :)

This hotel is such a hidden gem! Located super close to the jungle beach, walkable to the city centre, minutes away from the yoga studio and yet sheltered from the street noise, the location could not be better. I will miss watching monkies jump in between palm trees in the mornings, what a way to start the day! The hotel staff is super sweet and Manog who manages the property is such a great host; when there was an issue with my original booking he was kind to upgrade me and was super helpful throughout my stay. Thank you for hosting me!

I liked everything, but one idea to make it even better would be an information package in the rooms with wifi details, laundry guide, maybe a few whatsapp numbers for trusted tuktuk drivers in the area.
