Ad Deir Guesthouse

This place is just a short walk to the Petra entrance, with a handful of restaurants and shops on the way, which is all super convenient. The owner is extremely accommodating and knowledgeable about pretty much anything in the area. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend Ad Deir Guesthouse to anyone visiting Wadi Musa/Petra!

Location is great, just a 5 min walk to the Petra Visitor Center. The room is very nice, has AC and shower with hot water. There is an option to have homecooked diner for 10JD and a lunchbox for during your visit in Petra for 6JD. Both options are worth going for in my opinion. Saddam made our stay unforgettable. He’s a great host that gave us a wholesome experience. He helped us with the schedule, made a fantastic home made dinner and lunch boxes and was always available when we needed something.

The guesthouse was fairly close to Petra. Which was a positive.

The owners cousin was a waste of space. All he did was lay on the couch and play with his phone. The owner was quite good, in that he took only one day to replace the flexible shower hose which was clearly broken and kept falling down. Whilst annoying, at least he fixed it for future guests. The water pressure is not great, and the drain was blocked so the shower basin filled up when you showered. In the end I opened the drain to see it blocked with soap scum and hair. The guesthouse is not on the road, but up a 40 mt track with steps and up a very average 40 meter track, which in the dark is an issue. Breakfast is not included (as per the ad), but it's unusual given they offer lunch boxes and dinner for a price. Also they don't take credit card. whilst this is stated in the listing, when you are on a long trip you you don't remember details like this for individual bookings. Another guest the same night had the same issue, but luckily he had USD in cash to pay. The bed was comfortable, but after a hot day in Petra you need a good shower, which this place did not have, and certainly not a good shower when the shower head kept falling off. To his credit the owner fixed it within a day. This is a simple lack of maintenance and should have been obvious to the owner and his cousin when the shower head would have been always on the ground. I am sure the owner will respond as he seems always to react negatively when guests raise any issues in reviews.

The location was very good, a little walk up the stairs, just a few minutes away from the entrance to Petra. The personel is friendly and makes an effort to help you. Very good price-value

We really liked our stay there ! Saddam and his family are very kind and welcoming. They are always willing to help you during your stay. You can take a big diner at home for a fair price. They also propose lunch box if you need. The rooms are big and clean. The location is very good, near the entrance of Petra , there is many convenients stores and restaurants around. Staying at Ad Deir Guesthouse was one of the highlights of my trip to Jordan! I also loved the local meals served at the guesthouse; everything was fresh, flavorful, and prepared with care. Whether you're visiting Petra for the first time or returning to experience more, Ad Deir Guesthouse is a perfect base. Saddam was our kindest and best host in Jordan. He told us a lot about the country and gave unsolicited advice on the best way to see Petra. His mum cooked us a divine and huge dinner, we were also given a packed lunch for Petra's visit the next day. The property is very good value for money. Comfortable beds, huge roof terrace where we spent the evening chatting with Saddam and his friends. He organised us a taxi to Wadi Rum at a good price. Thank you for the unforgettable experience!
