We enjoyed the breakfast and the location. Was close to town

There was al security light that beamed through our curtai s all night and kept us awake.

Lovely staff. Very helpful. Great breakfast. Pretty balcony.

There is a fair amount of mould in the room. The shower doesn't get warmer than 37 degrees, which might be fine on a hot day, but it was rainy and cold when we were there. Place just needs a deep clean and upgrade of facilities. Pillows smelled mouldy.

Little bit expensive

Peaceful place which we really appreciated as Ella is crazy busy and, to our eyes, incredibly touristy which we didn’t like. Good place to escape to after being bombarded by the bars and restaurants of the main strip. The closeness to the town centre whilst being in the natural environment is really good. Big comfy bed so great as a place to crash for one night. The one member of staff we met was wonderful, very welcoming and made us a packed breakfast to take on the very early train out of Ella to Kandy. Really delicious. He also arranged a tuk tuk to get us to the station at 6am. We seem’ed to be the only guests and he looked after us very well.

Across Sri Lanka we stayed in some lovely small boutique hotels and guest houses. Green Cottage was not the best, but it was one of the more expensive. Suspect this is just because there is a lot of demand in Ella. Our room was low down under their tree canopy so while it was cool it felt damp and there was nothing to really look at from the small balcony. maybe a room on the higher floor would have had more natural light and a sense of the forest life. We seemed to be the only guests and the whole place felt a bit tired and abandoned as if we were staying there out of season. We were only staying one night so we could get on the train the next morning so non of this was that important to us. We did however think it was quite expensive compared to other places we stayed on our trip round the country.

Excellent accommodation! Clean, nice views into the trees with monkeys, delicious and big breakfast, nice location and super flexible and kind staff! Tip: Walk along the train tracks for a shortcut into town - makes it about 5 mins.

The location is perfect if you are going on a hike to Ella rock. The property is very close to the city centre and rooms have a balcony with beautiful view on the natural landscape of Ella. Breakfast was tasty and typical Srilankan.
