"Nebensaison abzuraten"

6.0

Sehr freundliches Personal

"Familiar, tasteful villa right by the beach, with great sunsets"

9.0

We had a lovely stay at Amuura Beach Villa with Claire! The villa is beautiful and the atmosphere is very familiar due to the small number of rooms. On the ground floor there is a living room area and an outside dining area. We stayed for two nights and finished our vacation with beach time and great sunsets. Our room was clean and spacious with a moskito net. The shared bathroom was actually no problem at all - it was also clean and nicely designed and offered soap, a hand towel and shampoo for the guests. The beach infront of the villa is small and nice. Nothing for far walks though. We spent a very chilly time on the sunbeds right by the beach underneath the palm trees. Very close to the villa (7 min walk) is a big fish market, which we visited. Entrance is 100 Rupia per person and you get a visitor pass, so people know you won't buy anything. It was a nice experience. To ensure you see most of the fish, be there early, latest by 7 am. Claire also has a nice garden a little away from the villa, which we hadn't the time to visit though. Ask her, if you can visit it. Still, we took home few packs of the cinnamon from her garden. On YouTube there is a video of Amuura how it is hand-made! Thank you very much for the pleasant stay, Claire! We would come back anytime....

"Lovely place"

9.0

Since the moment I arrived I fell in love with this house. It is well maintained and the garden and views are beautiful. There is so much peace in this place, so I was able to fully relax, just what I needed. The staff is also welcoming, they make you feel at home and they prepare delicious food.

There was not hot water in the shower. I love taking hot showers even when is warm, so it was unpleasant for me. There were lots of mosquitoes and flies. I understand it is normal, but at some point it became a bit annoying. Specially when eating, there were many flies that landed on the food :(

"Very big disappointment, will not be back and do not recommend"

5.0

I’m a solo female traveler, and I stayed only one night. The ocean view is beautiful and the beach. The villa architecture and design are beautiful. The dogs are cute. There is potential for a great place, yet it seems to lack some good care and energy. I am a yoga teacher too, and generally a positive person. Yet, I also like when things are transparent and honest. I love giving positive reviews, when it’s deserved, yet here I guess this is is the second time in life that I will note that much on the downside.

It may be that I was unlucky in some ways, or not liked by the personnel, but also some other things could have been managed better by the property. I felt disrespected and being not treated well. It was my first night in Sri Lanka ever and the first day of the New year. Very frustrating. *I was arriving 31.12 at night, and I asked the property before if it was ok, they said yes. *Before arrival, I asked if they had any contact for a local guide, as I was interested in visiting temples. At some point, I was asked if I was Indian. I am not, and it does not matter, yet I felt it was not polite. *The pick up shuttle was late by 30 minutes. There were plenty of other meet & greet drivers in the airport, but not mine. Although I was keeping posted the driver all the time that my journey was going smooth. It was a 10h journey and I was tired. *I was asked to buy some alcohol in a duty free for the driver, and I did as it was not a big deal, and I thought I would be treated nicely. *I was given a room facing the road. I was hearing all the motorcycles and cars passing by. *I opened my bed, and there was a big dead ant on the sheets. I asked to change the sheets, they brought me the new sheets yet I had to change it myself. *I started changing the sheets and found another insect. The pillow case was not clean. The curtains were dirty. *The bathroom and toilet are shared ones. I did not see it before. The toilet was dirty. The bathroom curtain was moving a lot with the wind, so I did not feel comfortable. *In the morning there were two frogs behind the painting in front of my bed. The personnel lady helped me to get them out. Luckily, they were not in my luggage. *I asked for a yoga mat, they gave me one. It had a cockroach inside. *The pineapple juice was diluted with water *When I was leaving, I forgot my rings. I guess I wanted to leave as fast as possible and the rings were on a commode in the area where a frog jumped to.
