Amuura Beach Villa

I had such a wonderful time at Amuura Beach Villa that I genuinely didn’t want to leave on the last day! The sunsets were breathtaking, and the early mornings—when the world was still asleep—felt magical. Sitting by the huge waves crashing into the rocks with those beautiful colours in the sky was pure serenity. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and chatty, making it feel more like a home than just a stay. The villa itself was beautifully decorated, with a cosy, homely vibe. My bed was super comfortable, and everything was spotless. A lovely surprise was that the villa has pets! They were so sweet and added to the homely atmosphere—I absolutely loved having them around. Surprisingly, there were fewer mosquitoes than I expected, especially after reading earlier reviews, and the mosquito net added extra peace of mind. The communal bathrooms were also very clean, and it was a nice touch to have a hair dryer available. The whole place felt very safe, and the safety deposit box was a great feature. I loved that I could leave the terrace or balcony doors open at night and still feel secure. The Wi-Fi was available, though it wasn’t the strongest.

• Communal/shared bathrooms are not for everyone but it was fine for me and husband! • Air conditioning would make the stay even more comfortable and help with maintaining the building. • The villa is a bit remote, so having a tuk-tuk or transport arranged is essential. No driver accommodation. • A kettle with tea and coffee in the rooms and beach towels would be lovely additions. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Amuura Beach Villa. It’s a peaceful retreat with so much charm, and the addition of the adorable pets made it even more special.

We stayed at this hotel with extended family. The hotel has an exceptional team doing all they can to keep the guests happy. Buddhika, Vijay and the rest of the team did everything they could to arrange the best trips and prepare wonderful dinners for us. Food was sourced from fresh fish markets. The hotel has a very chilled vibe with a beautiful garden and fantastic sea views. Ideal to relax and spend quality time with an extended group of family or friends.

The rooms could benefit from air conditioners to keep the mosquitos at bay. The beach right in front of the hotel was not clean throughout our stay due to reasons outside the control of hotel management (storms, sea currents, etc). However, the world-class Bentota beach is only 10min away by car and the hotel team was very happy to organize transportation for us.

Wonderful staff, really friendly and they go out od their way to make everything possible for you. Lovely room, comfortable beds, clean showers with windows to the ocean, delicious food. 10/10!!

Totally nice, attentive and helpful staff. Buddhika even enquired after our onward journey whether everything had gone well. On-site massage, private surf lesson and boat safari were spontaneously organised and arranged. Beautiful, lovingly furnished accommodation with a shared bathroom. The sound of the sea to fall asleep and wake up to was great. We would love to come back!

I had an amazing time in Amuura Beach Villa and I would definitely recommend this hotel. It is a lovely and quiet house by the beach, where I stayed 3 nights to work remotely and get some rest. Special thanks to Buddhika and the rest of the team who organized a shuttle, prepared amazing meals and coffee, and made sure I had everything I needed to enjoy my stay. I read in the comment that some guests had complained about the lack of AC but it was not an issue for me at all, since the house is located by the beach and always has a bit of wind. Also, I could go to sleep with the sound of waves ;) In the morning/evening, they would prepare a table for me in the garden by the beach so that I could enjoy my meal with a nice view. The hotel doesn't have any restaurant but they can prepare meals for you and the quality is really good ! If I had a chance to go back to Sri Lanka, I would definitely book this hotel again.

Can’t swim in beach right outside hotel due to rocks, and quite a few mosquitoes everywhere including room :(

I am really happy for the manager of the hotel that took really good care of me. He also picked me up from the hotel where I spent my days next to the hotel swimming pool. He made in the evening always beautiful dinner with the view on sunset.

Hotel is in Muslim area and as a single woman was really uncomfortable for me to walk around alone. I also experienced sexual attack on the beach just in front of the hotel. There is no swimming pool and beach was dirty, so no place for spent time in this hotel.

Plus points: - Great location and ambiance - Comfortable rooms with nice beds - Highly friendly staff

Negatives: - WiFi needs improvement; you can't do any work at the current speed, even when there were only 3 guests in the hotel. - Breakfast needs improvement; they do not offer options, whatever they prepare, you have to eat. - Shared washrooms and toilets—not much of an issue if I were with a group of friends, but I prefer private bathrooms with my wife. - No AC in the room; we overlooked this but would prefer if they had AC. - Limited cocktail options, no proper menu to check pricing and available options. - Pool closed due to monsoon. They could have offered us access to the nearest hotel pool so we wouldn't have to bear extra charges and search for one.

Inspite of good location , nice staff and view , there are some issues 1.Lack of Air Conditioning: Given the hot and humid weather in the south of Sri Lanka, not having air conditioning can indeed make it challenging to get a good night’s sleep. It’s essential for hotels to provide comfortable conditions for their guests, especially in warm climates.It’s disappointing when basic amenities like this are not up to standard. 2.Dirty and Unusable Pool: A pool that’s dirty and unusable is a significant letdown. Cleanliness and maintenance are crucial for any hotel amenity, especially something as central as a pool. Seeing dogs drink from it is definitely not acceptable. 3.Shared Small Toilet: Shared facilities can be inconvenient, especially if they are not well-maintained. . 4.Lack of Hot Water in Shared Bathroom: Cold showers can be quite uncomfortable, especially if you’re used to having hot water. 5.Unreasonable Dinner Price: Guests expect reasonable prices for meals, especially when dining at the hotel. It’s essential for hotels to strike a balance between quality and affordability. 6.Aggressive Behavior of the Owner: The behavior of the hotel owner is perhaps the most distressing aspect. As a guest, you deserve respect and understanding. It’s unfortunate that the owner didn’t apologize, even when she knew she was wrong. Hospitality should always prioritize guest satisfaction. So We decide to prioritize comfort over money . And paid 35% of the price of second night and left the hotel . Hear is srilanka with caring and generous people no germany.
