Hotel Hanguk Villa

We recently stayed at this wonderful family-run hotel in Dambulla, and we can’t recommend it enough! While the accommodation itself was simple, it was spotless and had everything needed for a peaceful and comfortable stay. The location was perfect—tucked away in a tranquil area yet close enough to the main road and attractions. What really set this place apart was the incredible hospitality. One highlight was the food—don’t miss out on their Kottu dishes! They were among the best we had during our travels in Sri Lanka, made fresh and bursting with authentic flavors. The service was exceptional, and the host went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. They have themselves Tuk Tuk service, but also helped us organising local tours with great knowledge and also with car transfers. Everything was organized seamlessly, and the communication through WhatsApp was excellent—quick, clear, and always helpful. If you’re looking for a warm, peaceful, and authentic experience in Dambulla with amazing food and top-notch service, this is the perfect place. We’re so grateful for the memories we made here and would happily return!

A small detail: Room insulation, as in other Sri Lankan hotels, is not that good. However, this did not disturb us at all. In fact, sleeping with the sounds of nature was actually quite pleasant!

Such a lovely place! Quiet, surrounded by rice fields, and breakfast in a beautiful garden. The room was comfortable and clean. The two members of staff were so helpful and arranged transport to the sites. Food was excellent. I thoroughly recommend!

The location is really nice as it is a bit away from the main toad (5min walk). The hosts are the nicest guys, which were ready to arrange everything we have asked for. They have arranged a safari in Kaudulla and then dropoff at the next hotel we were staying. They prepared us the most delicious curry and rice for dinner. Breakfast was also amazing, Srilankan’s pancakes and roti, fresh fruit and fresh juice. I recommend this hotel to everyone and we were sad that couldn’t stay for more nights.

The owner picked us up at the bus stop and welcomed us with a fresh drink. We were happy to stay at this villa. The room has everything you need, the ac, the fan and it was very clean. It is located a bit far from the center but we liked it even more, because it was super calm. The owner also dropped us at the temple entrance and picked us up from there on his tuktuk all at the price of pick me app. Then the other day he drove us to sigiriya and even packed us a breakfast to go (tip: put it in your backpack), showed us other places on the way back and then helped us arrange a jeep trip to the national park with the elephants. The breakfast and dinner we had there were delicious. The staff is extremely polite and friendly!

We stayed for 3 days and it was amazing! The rooms were nice, the was hot water and a fan and AC. The hotel spaces are very beautiful and the food they serve is amazing, best food we’be tried in Sri Lanka. But the best part are the workers there, they are super nice and helpful! They helped us booking all the activities we wanted to do, brought us at 4am to hike and they play card games with us. It felt like home to us and we sre forever grateful, wish we could’ve stayed more. A 10/10,we really recommend it!❤️ Ona & Jana

Nothing, everything was amazing

Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived. Our highlight in particular was the hospitality of a young boy who worked there, he was the kindest soul we have ever met. The food was amazing and the sunrise rock with the host was arranged very easily.
