Apartment in Barnard Castle

The apartment was clean and the owner gave us plenty of information for arrival.

The shower bathroom was really well decorated and looked great but the shower had little / no water pressure and made showering extremely difficult especially for a family getting ready for a wedding. Secondly, the sofa bed is not fit for use as a bed. Extremely uncomfortable with no padding. I know sofa beds are not very comfortable but this was a new level. I contacted the owner regarding this following their message to me to check if everything was okay, and at first they did not respond until I followed it up and then they were very dismissive of me.

The Window did not open in the Bedroom and because the night temperature was hot it was uncomfortable but the weather is not normally this hot so most times it would not be a problem it needed the windows to be able to open and possibly a fan if possible

It was clean, well equipped and comfortable.

The windows did not open. The only ventilation is to open the front door. The skylights make the apartment hot. If it was a hot day, it will be uncomfortable,

The location was perfect. Centrally situated for access to the town without being noisy. However parking nearby might have been tricky at busy times ( we parked at a friend's house so didn't experience this directly)

There were no towels or tea towels ready for us, not ideal when you arrive later at night. On the plus side we rang Danny at 10.30pm and got an immediate call back with information on where to find what we needed in a locked cupboard. There were tea bags and coffee pods but not even a UHT milk to greet the visitor - this was disappointing.

The location of the property is good. It’s right in the centre of Barnard Castle with plenty of on-street parking available.

We were locked in the property overnight as we had pulled a combination lock across the top of the door. We assumed (there being no instructions to suggest otherwise) that the code would be the same as for the outer door. It wasn’t. I contacted the owner by message and voicemail to let him know our predicament. He responded some hours later to say that we must have created a code. We hadn’t. To make matters worse, none of the windows in the flat opened so we had absolutely no means of escape. We managed to catch a neighbour through the letterbox in the morning and he lent us a screwdriver and we were finally able remove the offending lock and escape. A terrible stay and very poor response from the owner.

Only one thing being picky it was very warm and couldn’t open windows

Location and cleanliness

TV should just be connected to main channels (Netflix, Prime, Freeview) without messing about linking to one's own accounts.
