Exclusive Self-contained flat in Middlesbrough

Unfortunately as has been mentioned in previous reviews, there was a particularly bad drain smell at certain times of the day

It was available and within walking distance from the town centre. I do not have anything else positive to say about the place, I'm afraid.

The host's communication skills are unsuited for his role. Being polite, using appropriate registers goes a long way. Instead, the host was obtuse and gave the impression that he considered himself far too important to be bothered by something as trivial as a potential returning customer. He sent me a message telling He had one of his tenants on the property meet me and show me to the flat. When I complained about the scalding water, his first reaction was to accuse me of having "done something" to the tap that regulates the water temperature. When the tenant from earlier that day was sent to check the shower, he was able to confirm that there was indeed a problem with the tap and I was assigned another room, where the heating did not appear to work. (By then, I was sick of ringing him and being met with obtuseness, so I got an electric heater from my office in the town centre) When I came back from buying food, the light went out. I did not feel like ringing him again, so I left it at that. I do hope he improves, because the flat is in a very good location and there is plenty of competition in Middlesbrough.

The host was extremely rude and very intrusive regarding our stay! Even point at us like children and said no fighting! Me & my partner decided to leave and book somewhere less hostile and judgmental.

The apartment is clean and well-equipped, although I didn't use the cooking facilities. Location is only 5mins walk to city centre and it's in a quiet spot. I particularly appreciate the link to different apps on TV, like YouTube, Netflix. The central heating isn't on automatic timer, so I could turn it on/off as and when I needed it. It's a typical basic student accommodation, so no fancy decorations, but all in all, for what it is, it's definitely sufficient.

The host was friendly and accommodating. The self-contained flat was great with the kitchen facilities and private ensuite. The room was a good size and the bed was comfortable.

The shower only gave very hot water which I was unable to get cooler. The room was a little on the cool side. An extra blanket would have been nice.
