Sincere Wilderness Home stay

The hosts were so friendly and welcoming. They told us about the history of the town and made lots of great suggestions for things to do and see. The dinner was delicious.

The house, the location and above all Romeni, the angel host ! Nuwara Eliya is the place where you must stay at least 2 nights to feel it's serenity and Sincere wilderness is the place.

Nothing. If you keep in my mind that this is a home stay and not a hotel, then you will not find any flaw in this property.

Everything! We had such a cosy stay in a family atmosphere created by the wonderful hosts. On arrival, we were greeted warmly with tea, ginger biscuits and bananas. Our room (in a little cottage) smelt like wood and fresh linen, and had a wonderful view over the valley. The presence of multiple warm blankets and a hot water bottle at night ensured a good night’s sleep. But the best bit for us was enjoying breakfasts and dinners in the family’s kitchen. It was so warm and cosy, and smelt divinely of freshly made dishes! Sri Lankan rice & curry was truly exceptional (that green mango curry and yellow rice!) and the homemade orange marmalade with hoppers, pancakes or rotis for breakfast was so good too. On our second night, we got a chance to watch Romeni and her mum cook us dinner and we learnt so much about the different techniques, spices and ingredients they use. The walk through forests, tea plantations and villages we did with Romeni’s dad was excellent too and we learnt a lot about Nuwara Eliya’s history as well as flora and fauna. You can also walk to town easily by following a scenic walking route. Last but not least, the family’s pets (2 dogs and 3 cats) are most adorable and sweet, and we’ll miss cuddling them so much! If you’re a pet lover, look no further! The family treat them so well.

It’s undoubtedly the best accommodation in whole Sri Lanka. The room was fresh and clean, with great amenities, freshly renovated. The bathroom was clean, spacious, with hot water, clean towels and a hairdryer. It’s often cold in Nuwara Eliya, however there are plenty of thick blankets included so it wasn’t a problem at all. The best part is for sure the family that runs the place. They treat You as if You were a family member too. It’s a warm, welcoming and friendly space, you eat breakfast in their home downstairs - it’s warm and cozy, you can really feel like a family member. The food is tasty and homemade, You can also ask them for a lunch/dinner additionally - which I strongly recommend as it’s fresh ans tasty, probably the best we had during our trip to Sri Lanka. There’s a parking spot to leave your car if travelling by one, the road to get there is a bit narrow but not problematic. They also help with deciding where to go for sightseeing and the head of the family gives the opportunity to go for a great hike around in the mountains - explaining the climate, tea production and more. To summarize: it’s the best place we visited in Sri Lanka, very comfortable, clean and with the best hosts. We wish these brilliant people only the best!

We loved staying at Sincere Wilderness, the hosts were so friendly and welcoming and we loved their dogs and cats! The food was incredible and we ate dinner one evening at their home and it was some of the beat food we’ve had. Our room was really comfortable and we had a hot water bottle at night too. Only a short walk into the town! Would definitely stay again and recommend to our friends and family.

this is a wonderful experience . The host family made the best food we have ever had in our entire stay in Sri Lanka. The father has a wealth of knowledge about the flora and fauna . He leads a tour to the mountain . It’s a pity we only stayed one night and it was raining so we could not do the tour !

Make sure you stay two nights so if one day it’s raining you can wait for the second day , and do the tour with Lal . Also make sure you try the food made by the mother. All of us agree it’s the best !

This was the best place we stayed in 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. Romeni and her family are such amazing hosts, they are so kind and helpful. We stayed in the chalet and also their double room, both are beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. We had so much space in the rooms and the house is beautifully situated between the forest and town, it only takes 10 minutes to walk down to the main town. You must do the hike with her Dad, he taught us so much about the nature and history of the area. He also gave us a great itinerary for what to explore in the area whilst in Nuwera Eliya. We ate dinner at their house every night because it was so delicious and such a great variety over our 3 dinners and breakfasts. They were so kind to us and even gave us a hot water bottle every evening, really going above and beyond. We felt like part of the family - we were very sad to leave!
