Point Break Varkala

Liked the more remote location, the outlook over the wetlands and black sand beach.

It was a little quiet because of the end of the season and they only cleaned my room once in 7 days

Everything about point break was good. Laid back, comfortable, and friendly folks. The rooms are insta worthy and aesthetic, and would have been absolutely perfect if the room was a little bigger. With 2 people, it gets a little tight for movement and keeping stuff.

Room size. And unfortunately Google map glitches once you reach and takes you a little in circles. Can be extremely frustrating because you it is extremely hot to be stranded and searching.

This small hotel is well designed and rooms are stylish and comfortable with spacious porches. Breakfast was good, served in a sitting area with great views over a narrow green gorge where many birds hang out - great for birdwatchers! It is a short walk to the seashore, with both rocky sections that are hard to access and sandy beach areas a bit farther away.

Although the listing is accurate, it was disappointing to find that a large ugly building (apparently quite new) is positioned exactly between the hotel and the sea, blocking about 60% of the sea views. This construction means that the shortest path to the shore is a narrow gravel alley between two high concrete walls topped by broken glass. Also unfortunate was the very loud music from a beachside bar on Saturday night, which could not even be blocked out with earplugs. It would have been nice to have tea/coffee options before 8:30 am, which is when breakfast is served. Finally, beware of the rough waves and strong currents in the area that can pose a risk to swimmers. Overall, not a bad choice but overpriced given these drawbacks.

My friend and I loved everything about Point Break, so much that we went back for our final 3 days in India. The hosts Amelie and Rankin were amazing in every way, so welcoming and helpful. And also a mention for the 2 boys working there. The location is peaceful and beautiful, the rooms are spotless and comfortable we absolutely recommend this place highly.

There is nothing we didn't like here.
