Richcoast Darocotan El Nido

Last year i thought it couldn't be better but they upgraded the bungalows, so its even better now. Still my perfect island in the Philippines. The bungalows are the best and the staff is great. Andy is still the heart of the place for me. He was the 1 thing missing when we went to spent 1 day at bice hostel.

Someone wrote that the staff is great but the owner is a scammer. I don't think that's correct. The staff is the best!

Island was great, really pretty place to snorkeling if you smart enough to go around the island and not on the sink boat in front of the camp, but unfortunately that’s the only good thing.

All you can read about the transfer and the boat price on their page is a lie, you have to come to the pier wich is one hour from el nido by your own. They only gave a you a private car for 1500 to do el nido to the pier wich is crazy price for 1h ride plus don’t come late after 2pm for check in or the boat will cost you 1200 for 15min ride. Food is not good, portion is really small for a 480 meal, price is again really high for what we have. Staff not really friendly, some of them put me really uncomfortable by what they said. If you come from puerto it’s a waist, if you already in el nido why not.

Very quiet and chilled out. Staff were extremely friendly, food was awesome. Huge servings, well priced. Great place to unwind and chill out. Stayed for 3 nights. Loved it.

Tiny tiny huts . Trickle of shower water . Food not the best

The beach is amazing and it has a 10 points location. The staff made me trip more comfortable, they are really nice people, all of them, and specially Andy who helps you in everything you need. Everything I asked for help, they helped me. Friendly and nice people!! I loved the food. People complaining about the food are idiots, you are in an island, of course you are not going to have thousands options. But the few you have, they are delicious. Shared bathrooms were clean every time I used them. There are people cleaning the place frequently. Don’t expect hotel accommodation, this is a CAMP! I didn’t hear loud noise after midnight honestly! I feel I got what I paid for, and I have no complaints about that! It is in an island, you should ask how to get there if you don’t know it and the staff will give you some options for all budget. The cheapest one is 1400 both ways from/to El Nido (car + boat). I don’t think prices there were high, you have to remember this is an island, therefore, getting food and drinks there is more expensive. You can’t expect to pay a beer and coke the same price you pay them in El Nido downtown, however, the price is the same, so stop complaining about that. I feel some complains are just unfair and I felt the need to provide context because the experience you get is amazing and the prices are reasonable.

It’s difficult for me to rate Bice, I have mixed feelings to be honest and I will explain them here. I’m giving 8 out of them for some reasons but I want to say that during my stay I didn’t see other people having the same problems. The worst for me was being bitten by unknown insects both nights. I don’t know if these were sand flea, ants, or bed bugs but I woke up next morning with SEVERAL bites in my head, face, arms, back, legs. This ruined my mood for my second day because my body was all itchy. And then, this happened again in the second night. I saw in the reviews that I’m not the first and I’m not the only one, so I think the owner should have done something or should provide clients with information or something like repellent to prevent/avoid this. FYI: I used citronella and mosquito repellent but it didn’t work! This was even worse because both nights the light went off. I was never informed about that before booking or while I was at the camp. I just realized this was a “regular” thing after reading the reviews today. Guys, I had to sleep almost without clothes because the place was hot and the fan didn’t work (you have been saying you will extend fan’s battery since 2023, but I had two nights without fan and no light, so clearly no improvements in years). I acknowledge that electricity is an issue in Palawan. Of course this also aggravated my skin problem with the bites. After reading reviews I see you have done improvements and I congratulate you for that (huts and services are better). I hope you either inform better about the electricity problem beforehand. I don’t understand why some clients have fan all night and others don’t. If that depends on the room, I would have paid more to have that kind of comfort to be honest. My fan didn’t work all night when the light was off. Last point, please create a non-smoking area and prohibit smoking in room areas.

it needs more sitting like chairs and benches, the food is quiet pricey ranging 300 pesos to 500 pesos per dish, and its a small portion, where we could get a nice buffet in a nice resort in nacpan beach for almost the same price and its a buffet. if you’re in a budget you can bring like cup noodles etc.

Beaches full of sandflies Dirty water from the camp going out in the Sea right in front of the beach. Owner is a Scammer ! Equipment is old ! They don't tell you in advance that YOU HAVE TO PAY for the boat transfer to the island site, and you have no other choice than to take the camp site boat 200pesos one way !!

Probably most basic accommodation during our Philippine trip, but we loved this place the most. Beautiful. You can hike around island, rent a kayak or go snorkeling. Beautiful place
