Sigiri Lanka Resort

Great owner and accommodation.

Exceptionally friendly staff. They were immediately available for any needs, volunteered to drive me to Sigiriya, and even act as a tour guide up to the top.

The hotel staff were very hospitable, but at times felt a little bit too much. After driving me to Sigiriya, one of the hotel staff decided on his own that he would accompany me to the top and act as my tour guide. I sometimes like to go slow, look around, explore at my own pace. But the staff person was much more determined that we get to the top of Sigiriya quickly. It felt a little pushy at times. I know he was simply trying to be helpful but it wasn't asked for. The breakfast was just so-so. Lots of white bread and jello-jelly, which I have no taste for. The omlete and fruit were very good , though.

The host of the property was a lovely guy, made us feel welcome from the moment we turned up, let us check in early and made a great breakfast for us early the following day so that we could hit the road. He was up for a chat and you could see the care he has for the property and its guests. It is located just far enough outside of town that it’s very peaceful and quite and overlooks a lake with plenty of animals to see from the balcony of the rooms, however is only a short trip in to the main part of town. One of the best air conditioned rooms on our trip as well.

Sheet with holes, the bathroom smells like a cesspool, the owner turns off the hot water. And the worst thing is that the Bose Bluetooth speaker that I left in the room was stolen (owner took it over and then he pretended it wasn't him, ruining part of my vacation...)

Staff behavior. View, location. It is not hotel, it is resort. As a resort, it was good.

The building was a little old. Its location at booking.com is not correct. Please check the exact location in google maps.

When we first got there, it was at night and the owner was waiting for us at the entrance. Very very friendly and nice man. He also recommended some activities for us as it was raining when we went, so we had to find something else to do. The owner was amaaaazing with us and he made the stay we had feel very very homey. He was always looking out for us and giving us ideas for what to do for the day, or the next. He also sorted out some tours for us, which was amaziing!! 10/10 would come back and stay here again. Place was nice, room was clean, very nice view also, & away from the usual tourist area so it was always very quiet.
