Kaladwas Lal Haveli - A Heritage Boutique Hotel

The location is brilliant.

There are no beverages served at the restaurant, but it’s not a big deal. Just writing here for fyi purpose. Definitely not a no-go.

The service was exceptional, the staff really is great. The room had a few issues but nothing major. We enjoyed our stay there.

Excellent and unique Hotel. Wonderful staff and owner/manager. Exceptional location if you want a hotel in the old city.

Restaurant was good, especially dal makhani and poha.

The room was incredibly stuffy, hot (even with ac which didn't work well) and really noisy at night due to near constant bibbing of horns. If you are at all a light sleeper I really wouldn't recommend staying here. The location is also very inconvenient to reach, as you need to take a tuk tuk (no cars allowed), and none of the drivers know where the hotel is because the entrance is so hidden. Our flight arrived after dark so this was quite stressful. Staff were nice but we really struggled with English, which was an issue as my partner has a food allergy. We were told the hotel was locked from the outside overnight after 10pm, which maybe makes sense for security but we found quite concerning (eg if there was a fire!?). None of these things are the hotels fault, but the experience was not pleasant and didn't match our expectations. Overall we felt like we had paid far too much, given this cost more than some 5 star hotels and far more than many excellent homestays we stayed at elsewhere in India.

It can be very noisy. If you are light sleeper, it can be an issue.. Staff was quite shy and reserved but it could be due to their English..

Amazing interiors, old wood work, roof top space so peaceful, and the food was incredibly delicious. Would definitely recommend to someone to stay!

Service was below standard compared to the beauty of the property. Room wasn’t cleaned daily, which meant we were provided with drinking water in the room. We weren’t provided hand towels. Our laundry was late returning (luckily we were staying an extra day in Udaipur) but no compensation offered and we had to return to pick up the laundry ourselves.
