"Lovely cottage"

8.0

Lovely spacious cottage, easy access to loads of tourist attractions. Had a visit from a fox and its baby which was lovely and plenty of birdsong in the garden. Great to have a large fridge freezer and a bath and shower in the main bathroom.

Few bits of crockery needed washing, and there were a few bits of kitchen equipment such as limited pans and some utensils missing. Beds and sofa were a bit soft for our personal preference but this didnt affect our stay. The cottage and garden could do with a bit of tlc on the details and it would be stunning, again this didnt affect our stay. Would be good to know pets aren't allowed in the bedrooms and no toiletries provided prior to booking.

"A nice cottage for a mini break"

7.0

Spacious property. Nice and quiet. Clean and xomfortable. Centrally located for where we were going.

No washing up bowl. Not enough side plates or small bowls for the five of us. No cleaning spray or kitchen roll to be able to clean up properly. WiFi password in welcome book was wrong. Only saw the note fpr the correct WiFi on the cupboard by chance a day and a half in to our stay. Difficult finding the location. Hidden in the small print of one of the Booking.com emails.

"Better than staying at hotel as I could cook my own meals and had plenty of space. We stayed there as we were doing the"

Spacious / good facilities/ parking nearby

The property shares a utility room with an adjacent bungalow. From here the heating is set for both. Woke up on mornings very hot as the temperature was raised high. Also, I would have liked to use the hoover that I saw there but when I next looked it had been removed.

"Never stayed in such a r"

Basically clean, but all skirtings etc very grubby. Bedding & towels clean and nice-smelling.

Main bedroom unusable due to drain smell from en-suite. Booked for four people, only given three towels. Sleeps six, only four mugs & one teaspoon. Dishwasher broken, no plug for kitchen sink or bowl for washing-up. Only one bulb in lights over table. Table cloth shredded on one side. Cupboard doors don't fit, shelves lopsided. Dilapidated metal shed in garden, doors hanging off, banging in the wind.

"Not a bad stay if you’re aware of the issues upfront. Please read for main issues"

6.0

Lovely location, tucked away on its own however you do share the cottage, the other half is rented to other people. This isn’t made clear or mentioned at all. On the whole was fairly clean in most of the rooms. Lovely little fish pond adds a nice touch to the garden and view. Spacious rooms and lots of storage available. However the furniture is not as pictured not fit for purpose and kitchen is not well equipped for baking trays etc

1 - no where at all on the booking did it state that the cottage was half shared with another rented out cottage. We discovered this when arrived only by a small information leaflet left on a windowsill in the kitchen. This then told us the heating was also shared with the other cottage meaning if we wanted to turn it up or down it meant we were also changing the other peoples heating. 2 - It also told us that the door in our living room for the utility room was also shared. This meant we had to make sure it was locked. 10pm one of the nights someone had checked in to the other cottage and tried our door from the utility room luckily it was still locked otherwise we would have been sat there right on the other side of the door for a stranger to open the door this made it uncomfortable and awkward as they were also clearly not made aware of this. 3 - We came back from being out to find a random man down the side of the cottage by our front door painting the fence we had no warning this would be happening he didn’t say anything to us so we went inside. We went out a second time by the time we had come back he had gone however he had painted the ground all the way around the garden and to the back of the cottage where the doors were to enter and leave the house. They also knew we had booked with a dog so we checked the back door into the garden with our hand incase and the black paint was still very wet and it was only done an hour previously, this was a huge concern as if we had not noticed this and let the dog out onto wet black paint. The entire cottage was on it’s own and both the bedroom living room and open plan kitchen had huge windows all the way around and big glass doors this meant having a random man turn unexpectedly and be there for hours we had no privacy at all. Booking.Com customer service response to this was that ‘as you would not be there in the day the owner felt this would be okay’ - We could have been sat on the sofa all day.
