Champalao The Villa

A charming traditional style house with rooms opening onto a peaceful gardens. A very short walk from the hub of Vang Vieng e.g 10 min to the night market, but far enough to be quiet. A very good breakfast (choice of Asian or Western) with a large plate of fruit. Staff were friendly, despite language challenges. Ample shops and booths nearby for booking tours, onward tickets, adventure sports, laundry etc.

The facilities were a little basic for the price. The shower was cold throughout my stay despite the heater being on. The staff didn’t speak any English and I don’t speak Lao, so I couldn’t explain the problem and given the heat, it wasn’t a disaster. The wifi was very glitchy and there were no tea/coffee facilities. There are a fair few cats and dogs on site which, while very cute, don’t look healthy so it’s a little sad. As seems to be the norm, the room will only be cleaned during your stay if requested, including emptying the bathroom bin.

Great location and rooms

Lovely garden surroundings and beautiful design, with a very kind and communicate hostess. The staff are also very sweet -- and cute puppies!

My room's window overlooked the back street, where morning markets operated with plenty of honking, chickens, and shouting. Roosters and dogs in the night. Wifi didn't reach my room at all. The entire garden area smells of cat feces. It has pretty architecture, and it's central, but rather overpriced.
