Fortuna House Hotel

You get what you pay for basically. We wanted to save money on accommodation, we knew it was probably going to be bad. It wasn't too far from the beach and pleasure beach which was great. Tea, coffee , shampoo and soap were provided. Clean towels were also provided.

The beds had springs poking into our bodies - which was kinda brutal- a simple solution was to buy foam to go on top. There was no hot water on our first night, so we all had ice cold showers - which we had to have after coming back from the beach - this was also brutal. There was 1 pillow for each of us - luckily, we brought our own- its easy to get another pillow for your guests. One pillow cover had bad stains on it, not comforting. The next door room on the second night- had screaming kids, were fighting and banging doors the entire night - not the establishment fault but nonetheless we got little sleep. Parking- was a fight for your own somewhere on any of the streets.

The owner was lovely and friendly. The location was great for the Pleasure Beach. The beds were comfortable. The towels and bedding were clean. The shower worked really well. We used the room to sleep in as we were out all day both days. We also went out for breakfast to make the most of the time there.

The rooms need updating, and the bathroom. It looks groggy. The toilet seat was split which could cause injury but for £40 a night it was much better than a hostel or tent.

Location to beach and shops etc brilliant walking distance. Staff was friendly. Was given added check out time. The hotel was good in general the room was not bad, beds was ok.

I had a leak in the shower room from the room above us when they showered. Reported to staff, i took a video, the leak was checked but no solution, i had to buy extra towels as owner did not resolve issue as we used our towels as going out for the day coming back to a soaking floor. Tried contacting booking.com customer services I have been home 2 full days and no communication. Wasn't offered a refund for the extra towels I had to by, we used the towels provided by the hotel. I will not book this hotel again. As it cost more to stay here then paying the price for the nights I actually stayed.

I love old buildings and furnishings so it did not disappoint. It was like we were alone in the house you never heard anyone so was very quiet, despite the fact they were full. Although everything is dated it was very clean and tidy and loved the little things like a kettle, tea and coffee also a tiny soap with shampoo sachet.

The bathroom window wouldn't open and being a menopausal woman i needed air. Also would benefit from a box for people to drop keys off if you have to leave early.
