I stayed 4 nights in Hikkaduwa backyard beach homestay.. It is close to beach, just walking distance, beach very calm place as away from Hikkaduwa Town... Room with basic facilities, wifi and hot water also there.. Out side Restaurant is best place for Srilankan food prepared by Lalitha.. I will come to Hikkaduwa backyard beach homestay again...and recommend for other guests.. Host is Dilini, given details of location of homestay and other details what I need... This is best homestay in Hikkaduwa.

That’s it’s right next to the beach . You just walk this little path and then there is the whole beach for yourself. The people who are working there are also very nice and helpful ,but unfortunately their English is not that good , so it’s hard, sometimes, to communicate with them. But nonetheless it was a very nice stay. The room was clean , there is just one main bathroom so you have to share the bathroom with the other guests. I really recommend going to this homestay. For the price and location it’s very good :)

The price too high to be 35mins walking to the centre, family too greedy on money. Way cheaper close to town with private bathroom. NO WIFI at all. They offered me the connection to my phone number paying 600rp extra. No good. Should be included. And as it's a hostel the people should have the possibility to go out and back at any time they wanna but the property is locked after 9pm and no keys provided so it's gonna be a problem if get back after midnight.

Perfect location, great hosts. Very warm and welcoming. Beach in the backyard indeed! Chairs and juice-bar. Near to restaurants and bars, but far enough away from them to have a quiet location. Home cooked meal (tuna curry/ rice) was so good!

I would recommend a name sign in the front. Location is quite difficult to find.

Dilini, Pawi and family were just wonderful. We felt at home since day one and shared many moments and stories together.. Location was wonderful close to the cente, in front of the beach and long enough not to get blushed by night beach parties.. in any case will be a pity to get this place ruined by its own success because for us was a hidden pearl.. Thanks to show us what great SL hospitality is about, we'll be back

The accommodation is in a great location at the beach. The family is very sweet and helpful. Dinili was helpful for arranging airport transport and recommendations in the area. The option breakfast was very good with freshly made tuna curry. It was overall a very good experience and the family wants to ensure a pleasant stay!

This is not suitable for women, the guy is a pervert. I paid for 6 nights and left after 2. The location is fabulous and the wife is a fantastic cook.the room was oppressive with poor ventilation. There was a window but it opened to the inside of the house so no air.

Proximity to fabulous beach . Authenticity. Fantastic food.
