St Clements Guesthouse

It's a really nice, well located guesthouse. We were very happy with everything and would definitely recommend it. ,

Nothing.

Cute house: clean, fresh, modern, with all I needed for an overnight stay. There were no staff on the premises and just three guest rooms in all, so the experience was like being in an upmarket student house.

My room was a narrow staircase away from the bathroom. Coffee was provided, but no decaf coffee. There was no light over the safe boxes for the keys.

Unfortunately I never got the chance to find out. It's a real shame as it looks really cosy in the photos. I especially liked the idea of the self-serve breakfast as I was leaving very early in the morning for work.

To put it bluntly, they cancelled my booking the morning I was due to arrive because they had overbooked the room - after I received a message with all the check-in info. There was one phone call that I missed because I was getting ready (no message left), followed by an automated cancellation email from Booking.com. I had to make my own alternative arrangements and ended up staying in a big chain hotel outside of town. Fortunately I was only coming from Essex, so I had enough time to sort it out, but I can only imagine how stressful this would be for someone coming from further afield or abroad. I know these things happen, but it has shaken my confidence in booking with smaller hotels, which is a shame, as I would always prefer to support a smaller business over a big chain.

It was close to the congestion zone - but just outside of it.

Parking is not easy, we managed to find a place by God’s grace. Amen. Can hear people walking by -if they are loud- on the street during the night, depending where the room is of course.

Great location..lovely house. It was great to be able to help ourselves to tea, coffee, breakfast.

Noisy from street at front so take ear plugs.
