It's a pretty setting but unfortunately a bit run down

Several significant holes in the roof resulting in large pools of water inside the property as it was raining. This has also caused the thatch roofing to mould causing an intolerable smell and health hazard. Some of the kitchen appliances were not clean, the kettle needed significant cleaning before it could be used There was no hot water on arrival and my small kids had to have a cold bath. We eventually discovered that the geyser was off on the mains and switched it on. The electrical box, situated in one of the bedrooms, is unmarked and appears unsafe. There is a bright floodlight left on outside one of the bedrooms which we were unable to switch off. It made the nights sleep very uncomfortable. This place could be so beautiful but is run down and needs maintenance.

"Rustic but pleasant"

Conveniently located, nice wine tasting experience.

The bathroom was a bit dated and cold. The road access to the cottages is in really poor condition.

Been to this location before and for us it is a place that is very relaxing and immediately you leave any cares behind. This is one of the few occasions we visited at this time of year and the property grounds aren't at there splendid best but we still love the place. We always stay in the Manor House room with the en suite. The property is not your western standard amenities but the charm of the place compensates for this. Lovely wines and platters, service is so welcoming and friendly. They do breakfast and platters and pizzas in the grounds but that is only until 4pm. There are restaurants in Tulbagh which is close by and at Duikersdrift but most are closed Monday and Tuesday. Nice wine farms and tastings in the area and if you want some fresh reasonably priced in season fruit try Rora Farm in Woolsley (they sell by the kilo), further afield Bosjes is interesting and Ceres is also close.

"It was one night. It was comfortable enough albeit basic. I could not have done two nights"

4.0

I was a woman traveling on my ow and I am not a nervous traveler. On the night I check in, there was a power outage. There was no warning that this may be the case, and there were no candles or a torch. There was a fair bit of noise across the field next door. The noise didn't worry me in terms of disturbing peace but rather, if that noise comes closer and I have no way to see in the darkness. Most places warn guests and there is at least some provision made in the room with a candle or a torch. Although I thought that the site said there was wifi but there was none
