Hotel Express Newcastle Gateshead

Very very comfortable bed. U get what u pay for in these sort of places, stayed here for 2 nights staff were friendly had everything we needed and had a good couple of night's sleep, what more do u need!!!

In need of a refurb, very dated carpet and bathroom. Toilet rocked when sat on, fowl smell in some of the corridors.

The location was what we liked about the property

Electrical wires exposed behind the mattress, the toilet wasn’t attached, had to get it fixed. Wasn’t fully secure after, the room was tiny for a family room with en-suite. The shower glass was loose.

Neither was there lift nor help to assist in moving luggage on stairs

The receptionist walked around with no shoes or socks on and as each guest checked in he would walk out with a can of air freshener into the rooms. This leads to questions about the cleaning process if each room needs to be freshened. Free toiletries were advertised but we were told there was a charge for them on arrival Tea and coffee maker were advertised as included but an additional charge was stipulated at the hotel, with only instant coffee provided in the room The rooms had no drinking water and water was left in the kettle after the last guest There was a communal fridge but nowhere in the hotel to get ice The bathroom grout was stained from black mould We weren't provided hand towels or a foot towel for the shower Breakfast was said to be a full English with continental, but there was no mushrooms or tomatoes and the bacon was something processed and not real rashers. Continental breakfast consisted if only cereal The staff serving breakfast would go out for cigarettes and leave the door open so smoke came into the dining area
