Matinloc Island Resort

Well organized and decent facilities; friendly, caring and helpful staff and management all the way from airport boat pickup/transfer and daily activities. We had a very good experience staying in the resort. Highly recommended for a peaceful and relaxing resort.

It’s just a paradise!!! Beautiful island and resort with beautiful beaches and views!!! Staff are extremely welcoming and friendly. Our tour guide Sanvic is a great guy, very helpful and friendly. There is a family of monkeys on the island. They sometimes visit resort area. No danger!!! They are so cute. Water is clean. You can snorkel or get the kayak to get other side of island to visit different beaches. Food was delicious!!! If you are going to El Nido, Matinloc resort is the place I can’t recommend enough!

The staff were lovely and we enjoyed the little monkey family.

We didn’t enjoy the menu offered. Our room was immaculately clean; however, it felt little dilapidated and the blinds had broken slats and strange round holes. The beach wasn’t suitable for swimming due to the strong wind and current.

Cost and distance from town

The island had only a few visitors when were went so it was a lot quieter and intimate vs some of the more crowded places. Plus they were able to adjust our rooms as my elderly parents in laws couldn’t make the numerous steps to the first room reserved. The flexibility changed it from a scary experience to a great one.

Could rake up the coral on the beach each day to make the beach more enjoyable. Sad the coral is breaking down like that though.

Restrictive where we were allowed to go! Could not explore either side of the resort! Very limited on things we could do! No beach waiter service offered

The best hospitality we’ve experienced in all of the Philippines! The staff was incredibly kind and made us feel cared for in every way possible. We were constantly surprised with thoughtful gestures and little treats that made our stay unforgettable. On top of that, the owners take care of animals on-site, which creates such a lively and warm atmosphere and says so much about their kind hearts. We truly hope to return someday—it was an amazing experience!

Location

Food was average and massively overpriced. They also force you pay for an average at best buffet dinner that is 4 times the price of elsewhere in the Phillipines. We stayed in a far better hotel in Coron and the buffet was included in the already much cheaper price. They unnecessarily made us leave at 5am on our last day and did not deliver the packed breakfast that they promised and we'd paid for. The price of activities was also significantly more expensive than in El Nido. A window in our expensive room was broken and screwed only partially shut. What's worse is that there was a blind also partially snapped - we got distrurbed 3 times by staff who mistakenly claimed we had booked a massage to our room. After repeatedly disturbing us and taking video calls on our balcony while we were undressed in bed we heard and saw another staff member run up our stairs and peer through the broken blind into our room. We were truly traumatised but the hotel did nothing to compensate us. The times of boats on and off the island are also restrictive and they, again, massively overcharge you if you need to do anything outside of those times. Plenty of other guests had the same complaints as us, especially about food. By far the worst value for money and service we encountered in the Philippines and we stayed in some nice places. Avoid at all costs unless you don't care about money and good food or perhaps if the location is a must for you.
