Screaming Gecko Hostel

Friendly staff and good location

Our wasn’t ready when we arrived at 6:30pm and we were told to come back later (even though check in is at 3). We had to ask 4 times to be given towels. We also had no running water for a full day so we couldn’t even flush the toilet, and when the water did come back on it was brown. There were also black worms in the bathroom.

Green Gecko is the perfect accommodation for backpackers, whether for longer or shorter periods. It is located right in the center of the beautiful city of Coron and is the perfect place for exploration and adventure, various tours and many other things to do here. When we arrived, we were greeted by the very friendly staff and they showed us around. After making ourselves comfortable, we enjoyed the breathtaking view from the rooftop terrace during happy ½ hour with free rum. The hostel itself is a large and very clean house with two bathrooms, so you don't have to wait long for your turn to shower. The owner and his family come by almost every day and it's great fun chatting with them as they give you a great insight into life in the Philippines. They also offer a large number of tours at a great price, so there's plenty to do every day. They also gave us a really nice and big discount on the 3 days 2 nights Coron to El Nido island hopping tour which was awesome! The famous Tapyas mountain with the most beautiful sunsets in Coron is only a few minutes walk away, and the local market is also only a few minutes away. This hostel is so much more than just a place to stay, it's more of a social gathering with travelers and locals, which makes for the perfect mix.

I had a great time at Screaming Gecko they had a free rum happy hour which really helped everyone get together I also booked a 3 day 2 night tour from Coron to El Nido and got a discount from them since I was staying in the Hostel. Its got a great roof deck to chill out in the day and the staff were great. It is a peaceful place. The hostel is near the Kurida Bar it is just 2 minutes walk.

The location was central The manor style building was really nice The view was amazing The staff was really nice and helpful.

Nothing

The owner and staff are really friendly people and so helpful. My room had a/c and a good hot shower. It's close to the centre so easy to get to bars and restaurants. Again the staff are amazing :)

Aya is a great host but we have slept in other hostel Full Moon

The room we booked was not available when we arrived. The staff did not react like this was an inconvenience. We ended up paying nearly the same for a dorm room with shared bathroom as a 4 person private bathroom.

We arrived at the hostel and they told us that the room we had booked was not available. Although they did help us to find a new hostel, it was very hard and there were not many options at that time.
