Casa Cactus Buenavista

We stayed at Casa Cactus Buenavista for only 3 days and we really regretted that we couldn't stay longer. Jey is a charming host who made us happy at every step during our stay. We didn't have to worry about anything - every day Jey prepared a detailed plan of what we should visit, where to eat a good dinner and gave us lots of other practical advice. Casa Cactus Buenavista is a fantastic place to relax: silence, beautiful garden, very nice swimming pool. Every day Jey was preparing a delicious breakfast served outdoors. Since Jey speaks English fluently, I got a chance to have free conversations, which was very rare in other places in Yucatan. Without a doubt, the stay at Casa Cactus Buenavista was the best time during the entire 3-week stay in Yucatan.

The place is like a little oasis in the middle of the Buenavista town. We were looking to get away from the touristy part of Bacalar and we got exactly that. The sunrise at the terrace was amazing and the staff were very thoughtful and helpful.

Everything! The rooms and the way the pool and breakfast/ dinner area is arranged is very well organized The dinner we had was excellent, the room very quiet and peaceful surrounded by nature! We had overall a wonderful experience You should definitely have a car, it’s possible without because Jey & Sebastien are extremely accommodating and you can arrange taxis but much easier with a car

We were on a family trip by car to see various archeological sites at Yucatan with quite tight schedule but when we stayed at Casa Cactus - we decided to change plans and to have a "day off". It is a wonderful location with extraordinary hosts. They are experienced travellers with amazing stories - they know everything about accommodating guests with everything they may need. Communication was excellent and quick, which helped us a lot since we had an unexpected long drive. The cabañas and rooms are clean and spacious, everything is so easy to use, working well and beautifully designed - supporting local artists. It’s relaxing and full of plants. The hosts made us feel like home and so safe. The place is in the heart of real Mexico in a very strategic location - 10 min drive to Chachcoben and around 20-25 to Bacalar city. The lagoon is not long walk away and there is a great restaurant by the water too. They are so aware of their community and nature - everything is natural and supportive of surroundings. Every detail of the place tells a story and is designed to give space and comfort. We were offered to experience breakfast cooked by one of the neighbours for a small fee - Mari is a great cook and everything was handmade. It’s a very friendly atmosphere with a lot of intimacy and peace. Practical advice - there are 2 types of rooms available. One in a building. And second - bungalows. Equally comfortable. There is nice garden area with pool and dining area (open kitchen, grill, etc...)

This is an extraordinary place. Thought out and executed with an exception vision for peaceful tranquillity. The private bungalows are so beautiful, designed with efficiency in mind, and giving every bit of comfort one could desire. The heart of the property is an inner courtyard with a pool and the Lash garden around it. It’s a piece of heaven, filled with loving care by a remarkable couple who owns and operates it. From the moment we finalize our booking, so helpful communication leading up to our stay, warmest welcome and the fantastic , vegan breakfast, we felt pampered and cared for. It is a hidden gem, and we feel so very fortunate to have an opportunity to spend some time here.

Couldn’t think of anything, all was perfect

Casa cactus is a new hotel with very friendly staff,they helped us with everything we needed. Very clean and great for traveling with family as they have all the needed amenities. We enjoyed the pool. It is located on a quiet neighborhood which increases its charm. Perfect for a relaxing - no stress- stay. The rooms are big and with a nice design.
