Casa Cactus Buenavista

The hosts, Jey and Sebastian, were fabulous. Extremely helpful with activity and restaurant suggestions, arranging transportation, etc. They made sure you felt welcome in their peaceful and inviting oasis. The property is located approximately midway between Bacalar and Mahahual. With a combination of private and local transportation, it is very easy to get around. I highly recommend this property, and hope to return soon. Thank you Jey and Sebastian for a lovely stay!

The hotel and the territory was great. We stayed with a 1 yo baby, who enjoyed the garden and the pool. A comfortable crib was also provided. A great breakfast was freshly made every morning. It’s a bit distant from the city, so make sure you have a car. Overall, highly recommended, will do again.

"Our stay was simply magical! We booked last minute, and it felt like we had stumbled upon a hidden paradise. The pictures honestly don’t do this place justice – the beauty here is beyond words. The garden is lush, with cozy, winding paths surrounded by tropical plants, and the whole place is meticulously cared for. We even picked fresh bananas from the trees for breakfast! You can see so many birds sitting in your private padio Our room was elegant and comfortable, with a super mattress that allowed us to sleep so peacefully. We left the mosquito net open to enjoy the breeze, which was just perfect. It’s hard to believe a place like this exists just a few meters after entering the town. The food was outstanding. We enjoyed the daily special, and every meal was freshly prepared with local ingredients. The lobster with lemon sauce was honestly one of the best meals we've ever had! The pool is large, sparkling clean, and a great spot to relax – a true oasis on the north side of the lagoon, far from the crowds. We spent time in Bacalar, just a 20-minute drive away, but we loved relaxing in the pool and on the hammocks just as much. The owners and staff were incredibly welcoming, and breakfast was a delight each day, prepared with whatever fresh ingredients were available. This stay exceeded all expectations, and we’d recommend Casa Cactus to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat in nature." We also explored a hidden beach club recommended by Casa Cactus it was beyond imagination. The route to the beach club is bumpy for 1 km, but it's worth a drive , we saw some monkeys when we were walking downhills to the dock. It feels like all the lagoons are just for yourself. We went to Bacalar too, but we preferred this quite part of the lagoon, so authentic tourism. Our best stay in Mexico. Don't think too much when you book it place . You will have amazing stays and conversations, and it's so personal .

The owners Sebastian and Jey make you feel you are friends and the property and bedroom are just amazing. Bed is very comfortable, all is super clean , we also loved the decoration and the pool. We had also an excellent lobster dinner with best lemon sauce cooked by Jey. The best lobster we had during our stay. Buenavista is a great location because logistically you are closed to many tourist attractions ( Mahahual, Chachhoben, Dzibanché, Bacalar laguna) while being staying in a quiet village out of the tourist beaten path. So for us this was perfect and price was excellent. We extended our stay as a matter of fact. We hope to be back soon again! 😃

Beautiful garden and accomodation. We were able to use the outdoor kitchen. Communication was very good!

The road to Bacalar town is very scary when it's dark with a lot of holes in it. So you need to know this if you're staying in Buenavista and want to eat something in Bacalar. Buenavista itself is very quiet.

Beautiful property in the middle of an authentic mayan town . Lots of nature tropical plants, flowers, and a huge swimming pool, which is a heart of this place. Rooms are big, and our bathrooms were like indoors out door vibe with a stone wall . This place has everything you can buy your drinks around the corner and rooms have a mini fridge and . The decorations are elegant yet practical . We did the reservation last moment and were hesitant as it was away from Bacalar centro, but it's close to the laguna de bacalar just 5 mins walk from casa cactus. This part if lagoon its not touristy, so it feels private relaxing . You can see stars at night . We ended up extending our stay as it was the best stay in 1 month of the trip Mexico. The bed was huge and comfortable . Staff were kind of knowledgeable . Visit the ruin nearby . Breakfast was as per order, which was personal and delicious. We will be back. You come here to relax, walk around and sleep good

The weather was really hot, so there was a bit of mosquitoes as we are in nature, if you travel this part of Mexico in this weather repellent and sunscreens are important

The place is beautiful and so quiet, so a great place to relax. The owner responded quickly to my messages. We slept really well in the king-size bed, enjoyed the pool, and made a fire for the bbq.

Keep in mind that there can be mosquitos in this area.
