"Great onsen, great Japanese room, super great food."

9.0

-Great dinner and breakfast. My family love the Japanese cuisine. They use very fresh local ingredients. -The hot spring is clean and comfortable. Good amenities. -Opposite to one Gassho house which you can visit (requires entrance fee) -Bus stop just in front of the hotel -Convenient to take the bus to the two smaller Gassho villages in Ishigawa. -The Japanese style room (with tatami) is very spacious. I traveled in 3 this time, but I guess it will be very suitable for a family with more people.

Things below didn't really caused me any problems, but some people may be concerned. -The staff only understand very simple English and aren't using translator. I asked if we could have breakfast at 7:30 and they said ok, but the next day I was told the breakfast started at 8. Most staff I saw were elderly people. They were very kind and friendly, though. Please be patient with them. -Not many buses on this route, so you had better check the bus schedule in advance and make sure you can make it. -No shops nearby to buy snacks or stuffs. A vending machine of beer is on the first floor but has limited options.

The Japanese style room was amazing. Very spacious and comfortable. The dinner was a lot, quite filling and very delicious local dishes. The staff were also very accommodating of our requests.

"A serene winter escape, where warmth and tranquility embraced me amidst the snow."

10.0

A charming ryokan nestled in the heart of nowhere, embraced by a winter's blanket of snow. Serene and cozy, offering exquisite dinners and the warmest kindness from its staff.

I wished for an outdoor bath to bask in the snowy embrace, but the indoor one held its own charm and didn't diminish the experience.

"Would stay 2 nights to have more of the excellent meals"

9.0

Food was excellent. Both dinner and breakfast. Very clean. Staff were nice and were helpful. Bus stops in front. Large gassho across the street.

I don’t mind that the property is older. The only thing is the cold toilet seat. Buses are limited but reliably on time.

"Good base to visit the gassho villages in the area"

8.0

Classic ryokan in an older but well maintained building with a small onsen. Very clean, great dinner and breakfast. Comfortable rooms and a very welcoming host. Plenty of parking. There is a big gassho house just across the road worth visiting.
