Dartmoor Inn Merrivale

Room was comfy, clean and view from room was wonderful. Food was amazing. Very different as food cooked over a fire in the pub. It is a meat eaters venue I wouldnt recommend it to vegans or veggies. Staff were so helpful and friendly

We ordered breakfast when we got there. There was a bit of a muddle up but they provided breakfast despite logistical problems.

Super staff and excellent food. Stored our bikes securely overnight. Thanks to Frank for sorting out a minor problem with my room. Super location.

Last minute booking. I was planning on sleeping wild on the moor but it was gusting over 50 mph so abandoned my plans and booked in here. Was always planning on eating here first, but as a room was available decided to stay. Great stay and a nice comfy room with a good bed and a hot shower. I had to leave early to get across to Exeter for work, but all was taken care of. If you're planning on staying here, don't eat elsewhere. The food is excellent and I had the best steak I've had in ages.

The stairs and landing carpets were disgusting and clearly hadn’t been vacuumed for weeks and certainly not been cleaned ever. The room was tatty with the double glazed window letting in cold air (clearly needs replacing). Just silly but very annoying things like- don’t leave the broken picture on the wall, take it down or replace it with something from a second hand shop would have been better! The fitted sheet didn’t fit the bed and was too small so just came off when lying on it. The light bulb in the bedside lamp needed replacing as lamp didn’t work. The mugs we were given had a chip. No sound proofing in the rooms what so ever and music from the pub below went on even once all the diners had left - we had to ask for it to be turned off whilst the staff cleaned up to leave (11pm). I know pub stays aren’t luxurious but this was on another level. Private bathroom turned out to be outside our room across the landing (walking on very dirty carpet to get there) and this wasn’t obvious in the booking information I wouldn’t stay here again
