Aayu Melayu - George Town Penang

In some aspects this is a lovely place - great kitchen facilities, nice aesthetics and a great location. The hosts were also really friendly and communicative - all remotely but done well.

The main issue here is the total lack of sound proofing. The last two nights we were kept up until 3am by other guests - fairly miserable experience. The bedrooms are okay - but minimal natural light & beds not that comfy. Shared bathrooms are also okay, but not great.

The wall beside the bed is crumbling, so the table in the corner of the room has bits of the wall all over it. You can’t leave anything on that side of the room without it getting covered. I understand it’s an old building but this issue should be addressed

Location - not too far from the ferry terminal and very close to tourist attractions, Very friendly staff - I arrived a bit earlier, but I was able to access to the room. When I had a problem with the auto door lock, the staff (AJ) helped me multiple times to reset the password. Tasty bread - this place did not provide breakfast, but every morning they offered fresh bread from the oldest bakery in the town. It was very tasty.

The wall was very thin. The bed was too soft for me.

Owners are the best! They help you with things to do around the area and they even have lists with good restaurants and groceries close by. They have free bread from the oldest bakery in Georgetown (I loved it). They also have a washing machine that you can use for free ☺️ bit tricky to dry stuff after but we managed

The brick of the walls leave sediment in the room and the thin floor is quite noisy as its an old place

Very kind people at the Aayy Melayu, ready to help us to enjoy our stay. we spent 5 nights and have a great time.

it’s convenient to travel in the town

Maybe it’s not about the property but it’s about the another guest because the noise from the other room is so loud.
