Lovely. Stayed a few times. Highly recommended. Lovely breakfast.

Maybe update rooms. But, so clean.

Location, breakfast and very friendly staff

Rooms quite small (but I understand there were larger rooms available) and the mattress was quite uncomfortable.

Good location, nice old property, nice bar with fire, staff were friendly and helpful, on site free parking, breakfast was very good. Rooms were clean and tidy

A great location. The bar area is my favourite spot in Downham Market.

Whilst the room was immaculately clean and comfortable, it felt just a little “cold” and impersonal when set against how beautifully warm and cozy the downstairs bar area makes you feel.

It’s a beautiful old building

There was a bit of noise from the bar area that you could hear in our room.

I stayed at The Crown Hotel in Downham Market for one night in October while completing the North Norfolk Coastal cycling route. Check-in takes place at the bar, where the manager was really friendly, warm, and welcoming. The room was a decent size with a double bed. While the furnishings, carpets, and curtains were a little old, everything was very clean and comfortable. There was a TV, a nice selection of teas and coffees, and a modern, well-fitted ensuite bathroom. The pub downstairs, part of the old coaching house, was a real highlight. It felt like stepping back in time to the days of Shakespeare or Dickens, with a lively community atmosphere and locals chatting happily over a pint with the landlord—a true time capsule. Overall, The Crown Hotel is set in a beautiful historic coaching house with lovely staff and a welcoming atmosphere. While the building has seen better days, it’s clean, full of character, and well worth a visit. I had a pleasant stay and would recommend it.
