Serenity Room JFK

Clean room. Relatively quiet neighborhood and fellow guests.

The communication with staff was all through text message and only half of my texts would occasionally be answered. I had no check-in or check-out instructions. The booking.com listing mentions an “airport shuttle” that is NOT true, basically they will call a cab for you if you ask, pretty pointless. They switched the building I was to stay in at the last minute, this involved a 30-minute walk from the nearest transit- very rough since I was getting in at midnight with a bunch of very heavy luggage. I had no key to my room so no way to lock my room while away was pretty worried the whole time about other random guests having access to my room/luggage. The shared bathroom was filthy and there was no toilet paper when I arrived. All of the soap, shampoo etc. bottles in the shower were also- empty. There was a cat in the house, also weird (allergies hello!). I am not allergic but I could have been. Overall just a bizarre stay experience. Was it cheaper than a big-name hotel- yes. Was it cheap enough to justify the hostel/funky airbnb type experience? no, in my opinion. I’ve stayed at nicer hostels for half that price. And all the random changes and bad comm and false or skewed information going into my stay was just very stressful. All that said my room seemed clean at least.

I didn't like sharing the bathroom. People are nasty it was disgusting at times. There was no key for my room door I could only lock it from the inside. Microwave didn't work. Food was taken out of the fridge by someone in the kitchen.

If you need to get to JFK airport quickly, this location is very convenient.

The house is very old, the shower faucets don't work, the toilet lid keeps falling off. Everything is generally very old, although relatively clean.
