"Ok stay, but wouldn't again."

6.0

Room was clean, decent wifi, and bathroom was great - good shower and clean. Big Tesco just opposite is handy, short walk down to the river side and King Charles III Coastal Path which is a nice walk/run/cycle route (~15 mins south to the Seacombe ferry, ~ 45 mins up to New Brighton and onwards)

Wasn't obvious to me that this is just an en suite room in a ground floor shared house - the lounge and kitchen are communal areas linked directly to the rooms. As mentioned in other reviews it looks a bit rough from outside, but easy enough to use the lockbox to get keys for the house & room (although the directions said to look for 2A on the front door, but it's actually 2B). Netflix is shown on the photos, but wasn't logged into an account on my room TV so you'd have to use your own login. Room TV pretty much just had BBC news. Location isn't great for transport - options for getting around is mostly the buses (433, 432, 409 to get to the city centre) unless you're happy to walk (~15 mins down to the ferry, 45+ mins to trains)

"Nobody's idea of a 'luxury room'"

2.0

I'm struggling to think of anything positive, but I suppose the bed was perfectly comfortable.

Poor and inaccurate communication beforehand. Filthy and run-down property externally and internally. Booked room hadn't bee cleaned at all on arrival at 6pm (used, unmade bed; dirty, damp towel; remains of a takeaway by the bin; used ensuite shower room). Host directed me by phone to an alternative room that was not en suite (as advertised) and had to pass through communal area to access shower and toilet. Room was very poor: bag of laundry left outside; loose door handle; damp patch on the wall, flaking on to bed; dust and grime on most surfaces; bare lightbulb; broken blinds straight on to the street providing little privacy; sound of dripping throughout night; TV remote had so many missing buttons the TV couldn't even be switched on. Bathroom was similar: mouldy shower; damp smell; dodgy bodged installation of everything (with B&Q labels left on! Ironically, the outside had a sign saying they offer 'property maintenance services'.) Communal kitchen and sitting room: smelly and filthy – I wouldn't have trusted even making a cup of tea there, let alone cooking and eating anything. Security concerns throughout. In summary, even though the place was cheap, it still managed to be terrible value. I would have moved out and demanded a refund, but everywhere else was fully booked. See photos for just a few examples of how grim this place was. Sadly, they don't do justice to the amount of dirt or the smells.

"Never again"

Room although basic was tidy

Why leave out pictures of the outside when it looks like a crack den? Doesn’t matter how good the room is, if you’ve gotta walk through 20 yards of shit to get there.
