"Do not stay here - it is shocking and probably unsafe."

Nothing. We refused to stay. The property does not meet legal minimum standards and is a misrepresentation under the Consumer Protection Act.

Describing this as a basement apartment misrepresents the property. It is a badly converted cellar with very little light. The only window in the main room is the small aperture shown in the photographs and at over 2 m above the floor it does not have a view of the few feet of broken concrete and 8 foot hight hedge outside. Access is down broken concrete steps by a crumbling wall with loose bricks to a small dark area (no outside light) and a strong smell of drains. The door is very small leading to a dark room with only two small side lights. Clearly additional lighting was used in all of the photographs. It is damp, dirty in places has very rough plastered walls and is badly painted. There are gaps around doorframes where they are not properly finished to the walls/ceilings, including from the toilet into the kitchen and the kitchen into the bedroom. The kitchen door panels have separated meaning that odours. Steam from the kitchen would constantly enter the bedroom. There is no dining table; the side is split away from the cupboard under the “window” and there is what appears to be a gas pipe passing through that part of the room. The basic kitchen was also damp and badly painted; had no refrigerator and only a single ring to go with the microwave oven. It certainly did not have modern facilities. At the back of the bedroom was a door. We opened it to reveal a dirty staircase leading to some botched panels at the rear - which appeared to be the only separation to the next property upstairs. A rail had been hung across as a “wardrobe” space. Again there was a large gap above the door with grey dust and thick grey material hanging down - possibly insulation, but we were concerned that it might be asbestos. We left immediately as we considered the space to be unsafe, possibly not fit for habitation, and certainly misrepresented on Booking site. No evidence that it has Planning Permission nor meets Building and Fire Regulations. Appalling.

"Wouldn’t stay again"

Not a lot to be truthful, they seem short and they live above so feels uncomfortable like your worried to make noise or be heard worried about going outside to smoke they where very strict and forward on there messages about don’t dos. Won’t be retuning
