Rustic Retreat cottage

Perfect location nice and quiet close to town centre , really comfortable beds lovely cosy and warm cottage, really enjoyed our night here, it has everything you need for an enjoyable stay, the owners were really efficient too with any questions we had really nice people 😀 we will definitely be back

Would have loved a small tv in the bedroom.

The fact the keys were in the lock box next to the front door much easier to do

The heating system didn't seem to work properly despite following the instructions The temperature of the shower was not good, it was either too cold or too hot no happy medium The description of the back yard was misleading as I thought it was a private enclosed section where I could of allowed my dog out but this was not the case

Perfect location right in the village, a short walk to the local pub and a short walk through the park into town

Great lounge and main bedroom, very good location for Thirsk

Could have been cleaner. On first glance was ok but on closer inspection some bits missed and bweren’t as clean as they could have been, a few areas in need of an upgrade. Very creaky floorboards upstairs could do with being looked at too.

Wood burner was just for show!!, I booked it because it had a wood burner. The heating boiler was in a cupboard in the second bedroom

It had everything we needed for our stay. Very comfortable living room

The property was modern & quite close to town etc

The street is very dimly lit and the keys are obtained via a keysafe on the wall outside which is fine if you could actually see the numbers on the keysafe in the pouring rain. On entry we noticed it to be cold so attempted to switch the heating on, thermostat not working, contacted the host who attended to reset and override the boiler. After she left, it switched off again after a short while, I reset it myself and it switched off again and continued to do this throughout our stay there, absolutely ridiculous. On closer inspection found cobwebs almost everywhere that we didn't initially see until looking more closely, I rubbed my finger along one of the chrome rails on the radiator in the bathroom and was truly shocked how dirty it actually was. The carpet outside the bathroom door had detached from the door trap and so therefore was quite a bad trip hazard which could easily result in falling down the stairs. The floorboards at the top of the stairs were probably the worst creakiest boards I have ever stood on which wasn't great if I got up to visit the bathroom during the night as woke my Partner then just by walking to the bathroom answered so loud and creaky and the road noise when traffic passed by was like literally being out in the street. I don't think "RUSTIC RETREAT " is an appropriate name to be fair.
