Hillside View Staithes

Lovely place to stay with parking. However no handrail on stairs and we had children with us. Side of bath built out so anyone disabled would struggle. Fridge needs defrosting as door would t shut due to ice build up so we had to chip some ice away. WiFi didn’t work for us. On the whole however it’s ideal for Staithes. Place was clean and had all amenities. Would certainly return there

The location was great and having parking is a definite plus! Nice walk down to the centre which we enjoyed and easy to get to neighbouring towns too. Great food places nearby and the beach is lovely, we even swam in the sea!

The living room and kitchen could do with a refurb, everything is just a little tired. There’s only comfortable seating for three really without a squash so the sofa and chairs need replacing. There’s only comfortable kitchen is basic and the table wasn’t comfortable so we didn’t eat in the house really. Beds comfortable, but noisy!

Off street parking. Most facilities there except no idea how to operate them. Close to local Co-op store and short walk to Staithes Harbour and Cleveland Way walking trail.

Appalling safety standards. No stairs or bath railing even though mentioned by previous users over a year ago. Filthy bathroom with leaking shower, mould growing on bath which was also cracked, plus building residue and long marks along length of bath. Marks along wall near bath. Unfinished panelling end. Exhaust fan broken and hanging off wall. Pull cord light switch between back of door and wall. No instructions on how to use anything even though promised months' ago and no answer from the agents on phone call. Finally worked out which ISP to use and how to operate the router to get internet access, only to have the ISP (Alcatel router to Linkzone ISP) dis-connected the day of leaving with no access to emails and book-in details for next stay. Not happy! Old TV antenna still stuck on the window with lead lying loose in lounge, with external TV antenna cut and lying on unkempt lawn area, along with a small solar panel and broken lead. There were roof leak signs in the kitchen (along with cobwebs) plus in the bedroom cupboard. The bed sheets were too small and constantly moved off the bed. Loose carpeting on the stairs, which along with shallow steps made stair climbing/descending dangerous. Fridge/freezer had iced over and had to be defrosted to use, although when fridge unplugged it was discovered the wall power outlet was not fixed to the wall and was hanging loose. One sink plug needs replacing as it has to be removed to drain contents, plus has been modified for some reason. Very poor quality rental and support.

Good location close to residents and the Co-op in the top of the village, not in the bottom where there're only holiday lets and second homes (I'm from Staithes and was visiting family). Enough space for a family of 4, and a nice bathroom.

Whilst clean enough there were areas between units and in corners that were missed with spiders and cobwebs. The fridge/freezer needs defrosting, the door wasn't fully closed due to ice and was full of water which had also ran onto the floor. I removed some of the ice from the freezer and dried the water out so that it could close properly, not a big issue, just unnecessary. Whilst the bathroom was nice, the property is somewhat dated, particularly the downstairs.

The house was very clean.

The grass in the small back garden hasn't been cut in ages. . You couldn't sit outside and be. Comfortable. Also, the noise from the road didn't help when outside. Inside the house, the TV hardly worked had to keep unplugging the TV firestick out of the back of the TV and reinstall it. The bed mattress in the main bedroom needs replacing as when you got into it ,you practically sank into it. No support. The bathroom is a goodsize ,but the shower head drips constantly.Next to the bath, there's a what I presume is boxed in piping as the tiles around at the side must be at least from the bath about a foot deep making it harder to get into . So if you try to get in, you have to step on the top to climb down into the bath or for a shower. This makes it quite unsafe, as it is tiled, and if you climb out, you could easily slip and fall . Potentially, injuries to yourself. I wouldn't recommend this property to anyone over 30 or family.

House was clean and had everything needed

Garden was a mess and needed the grass cutting. Was rubbish and empty beer cans on the drive way
