Downs Hotel

Wir haben das Hotel für den letzten Abend vor unserer Abreise aus England gebucht. Ausschlaggeben war die Nähe zu Brighton. Nach einem kurzen Abstecher am Abend nach Brighton sind wir unverzüglich zum Abendessen ins Hotel zurück. Zum Glück. Das Essen war sehr gut. Preis-Leistung waren hier am besten in unserem fast dreiwöchigen Urlaub. Sehr freundliches Personal. Auch das Frühstück war sehr gut.

Surprisingly good. Nice decor and people friendly. Would stay again.

Plumbing had a few tricky moments

Room had air conditioning. Spacious. The young man who welcomed us was outstanding a great representative of the Hotel. Staff were nice.

Room 5. Cracks in decor. Stairs to room are very steep. Micro fridge not working. Breakfast was extremely poor! Avocado was like pea soup in vinaigrette!. Evening food was below par. The chicken wings were awful, not old, ancient! Very disappointing! Gin & tonic + Pint ofGuinness £13.50! Lowest bottle red wine over £30! Not likely to recommend or return, sorry. Honest review.

Traffic noise from the busy road

The room was well furnished and clean but overpriced.

I was in Room 7, which was outside the hotel, external access, and just yards from a very busy road, made worse by the fact that it is a hill, so vehicles (including motorbikes) are revving up in low gears at early hours of the morning, so don't expect a peaceful night's sleep. The lighting in the room was poor; the main toilet flusher did not work; hot water came out of the cold tap for about three or four minutes; the fan in the bathroom took a long time to switch itself off and was very noisy; there were only three coat hangers available. Also, since I last stayed there, they have stopped offering a healthy/continental breakfast option - that was very disappointing.
