The location was great for our needs and the property was very clean.

The location was very good and the building and decor were stylish. The apartment was nicely furnished and decorated with a good view from the big bay window in the lounge. There is an excellent restaurant downstairs - MIDA, plus others nearby. Easy access to Harvard by a bus across the road or by Uber/Lyft.

The apartment is on the top floor, with several flights of steep stairs. Not good for small children or anyone with mobility issues. Neither remote control for the TVs worked and as it was torrential rain the first day, we wanted to watch the TV. We had to wait until much later in the day for a maintenance man to come without notice. I wouldn't have been happy about this, had I been a woman on my own. He knocked and would have walked in, had we not opened the door. There were two bedside lamps, but one had no socket to plug it into. The sofa bed was uncomfortable for our son. The kitchen facilities were limited to basics with an electric table top hob and a microwave, rather than an oven. The worst thing was that the owner placed a deposit charge of several hundred dollars against our credit card the day before we left, with no warning or notification. This was not listed in the terms and conditions. This resulted in us almost stopping our credit card, thinking we had been scammed. We had no idea where the charge originated and it took a process of elimination and stress, before we got to the bottom of it. The charge was returned but was later put on again, days after we had left the apartment. We have never experienced this before.

I liked the location, how central it was to the city. Also the hotel was very quiet and restful.

It was a bit loud with the traffic but that’s not really something that can be controlled.

The property itself was clean and generally well-maintained. However, communication with the staff was quite difficult—they were hard to reach, and we experienced a long delay (a couple of hours) before receiving any response when we had trouble accessing the building. A few important details were also not disclosed prior to booking. The property does not have an elevator or a concierge/front desk, which would have been helpful to know in advance. We were also told the unit included a queen-sized pull-out couch, but it was noticeably smaller—closer to a twin size—making it uncomfortable for more than one person. One of the most significant issues was the noise level outside. While some reviews mentioned it being noisy, the volume and intensity were far beyond what we expected. It was extremely difficult to get any rest. Late at night, the area also felt unsafe. At around 2 a.m., we witnessed a riot outside the building, including a police car being set on fire—something that was both alarming and unsettling.

It was not a hotel. The name is misleading. I did not want to go in an apartment

We enjoyed our stay at the Chester, the room was clean and decorated beautifully so it felt like a home rather than a hotel room. I’d highly recommend the restaurant right next door, Mida, but make a reservation. If you need quiet this isn’t the place for you as it’s near a busy intersection so there are frequent sirens and car noise but we got used to it and the positives definitely outweighed the negative!
