Kong Resort Vangvieng

The place is located outside of the city centre so we found it very calm. The room had a small green area with a terrace. While the room's shape was long and narrow, we did not find it too small.

There was an unannounced room service while we were gone rock climbing. I had left my wallet on the table and after returning I found that some money was missing. I had booked 2 nights, but obviously in this situation I did not want to stay there the second night and requested the second night to be cancelled. The manager did not agree to cancel and said that in these kind of situations police has to be involved which I was ok with. When it was clear that he is calling his friends instead and not an actual police (I had a person with me that understands Laotian), I found Laos police number, but was not able to reach them. I ended up paying for both nights and now I have contacted Booking.com Customer Service to resolve this issue.

It was very relaxed and the pool is great. The rooms actually looked better than they do in the photos with both an inside as an outside shower. I also really liked the location on the 'quiet' side of the river with nice cafe's such as the Kiwi Cafe and Pizza Luka at your doorstep.

Not all the staff at the front desk spoke English well enough to help us with our questions. During our stay (3 nights) the room was not cleaned and therefor we emptied the trash bins ourselves.

Stylish, clean, nice pool, quieter side of the river but just a short walk into town.

No food or drink available but store and restaurant near by.

We loved our stay at Kong. The hotel is built from old shipping containers and it's designed beautifully. The beds are super comfy. The best hotel we stayed in Laos.

For some people it might be a tiny bit far away from the center. But that is not a real problem for us.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean and confortable. Interesting concept of making rooms from containers. Enjoyed my stay a lot!

Littlebit on the pricier side

Location is near the main attractions and nice cafes/restaurants can be found close by! Concept is unique. Pool liked clean although we did not use. Bed was comfortable and on site scooter rental was appreciated.

Be careful with the exchange rate for hot air balloons. We ended up paying 20$ extra. Not sure who pocketed this money. Breakfast included and a water refill station would have been nice. While staff were friendly, they did not go out off their way to provide outstanding service. The property was not busy while we were there so perhaps this meant less staff working there than at peak times. No kettle, tea or coffee in the rooms. No hand towels or foot towel. No hair dryer. Not much information given regarding the property on arrival. Some staff spoke very little English and were on phones and away from front desk.

very Nice and clean Place

the hotel is very cool and the room is very comfortable with everything you might need the location is really nice and our room looked out onto the river it’s an easy walk to the center of town but far enough to feel like your in the countryside. the staff were nice, helping us change moneys and do laundry.

the room lock is very trick and 3 times we either couldn’t get in or couldn’t get out the room. there are lots and lots of mosquitoes. even with lots of repellent on we were bitten like crazy. the pool is really nice but it’s difficult to enjoy it as there are only 3 plastics sunbeds all of which are broken. there is also no shade whatsoever. we had to ask for an umbrella and prop it up against the side of the pool and just sit still in the waters to keep cool. not the most relaxing

owner went out of his way to help us with everything we wanted or needed without adding any extra cost. extremely clean, quirky and unusual.
