Sapa Hillcrest homestay

The accommodation is at the top of a small hill. From there you have a beautiful view at the rice fields. I did two small hikes, one I did through the rice fields and the other one through a bamboo Forest and to the CatCat Village. For dinner you can join the Family at the Family Dinner.

It is really rustic. But if you don’t mind what makes this stay particularly great is the very friendly family as well as the peaceful location. The brothers are great guides, too. If you’ve seen all the rice terraces and don’t mind a bit of sweat I highly recommend a guided hike in the forest, up the other side of the valley. This is how I pictured Vietnam before I went there (apart from the rice fields).

The unforgettable views of rice fields, the delicious meals cooked by our hosts and their life stories filled us with so much love and laughter. They were incredibly kind, generous and loving. If you’re looking for a true local experience, it should be here!

Such an amazing experience! Pe Thao was a wonderful host. He boasted with energy and enthusiasm. The views were spectacular & some of the best trekking we’ve done in Southeast Asia. The family was welcoming and the homestay was filled with animals and children. It was truely an authentic experience!

Not an issue, just a warning: the accommodation is not accurate on google maps. So message the host beforehand to get the best route to the accommodation. Also, do not try to drive an automatic motorbike down the mountain to the homestay. Our bike along with others brakes went out! A manual bike worked much better!

Simple, authentic, quiet accommodation at a family's home. We stayed in the bungalow, it was big enough, the bed was comfortable, there was cold shower inside and warm shower outside in another building. Breakfast was good with pancakes, bananas, chocolate syrup, honey. The first day's coffee was very good.

There weren't any furniture on the terracee. We found one chair in the bungalow and another one in the garden. Two plastc chairs and a small table would make the terrace useable and comfortable. A rack with some hangers would be useful in the bungalow since there is nowhere to put cloths or wet towels.

Our stay at Sapa Hillcrest Homestay was perfect. Pe Thao and his family welcomed us with open arms in their farm. We could really feel as part of the family. Stay here if you want to live an authentic Vietnamese experience in Sapa. The view is incredible. Pe Thao can help you for anything (taxi, hiking tour …) You can go there by walk is you are a bit sportive 😉 (1h from Sapa). Thanks !

1. Pe Thao was such an amazing, helpful, and funny host. He will do anything for you the second you ask, has lots of expertise on the area, gives you suggestions for hikes and even works as a guide if you like. Hard to put in words how nice he was! Made us a campfire, knitted bracelets together, … 2. the rest of the family (+the dogs!) were super nice too! We did entire hikes with one of the dogs which was so cute 3. good breakfast for free, cheap and amazing (!!) family dinner! 4. the comfiest and softest beds in whole Vietnam. Summary: Like living with an authentic, modest Hmong family. For us the perfect place to be in sapa. (We extended twice) Be aware that apart from the deluxe bungalow this place is not luxurious! But if you’re looking for someplace authentic, look no further.

A real family atmosphere with kids playing around and cute animals (especially the dogs). The owners are super friendly and helpful with planning hikes. Dinner is (if you want) with the whole family and super delicious. Also the breakfast is absolutely recommended. Location is quite remote but scenic in the hills with great views (even on fransipan).

It’s quite hard to reach by taxi or by motorbike so best to hike there (ask owners for the best route).
