The charm of the building and history but that was my opinion before arrival...

We received a message which room. Upon arrival it was dark, it was a dark road covered with forest. We were there alone. No one answered inside, but there were shoes in hallway. so we searched our room. I had to take something from my car and someone put the towels for our door. But no one for welcoming or just say hello. It is scary someone walking around and you dont't know who or how many. It was a remote place and I single woman. The kids 11 and 13 were really afraid so we locked ourselves in the room. I shoud have left... The next morning, we searched for the kitchen to make tea. we walked around and found a chapel and scary paintings and paintings with naked woman. It did not feel good. the wifi not working as well the building needs taken care for Maybe it is an idea to make the negative positive and advertise as a scary place, it will attract more people.

Facility is rough around the edges but Alan is honest about that in his listing

Das Anwesen ist sehr weitläufigen und sicherlich einmal ein prächtiges Schlösschen gewesen. Es liegt idyllisch im nirgendwo und sieht innen und außen verwunschen aus. Man darf nicht zu zart beseitet sein. Ideal für Halloween oder einen ganz besonderen Aufenthalt. Kein Luxus erwartet! Aber man bekommt was man bezahlt, eine Übernachtung in einem bemerkenswerten Gemäuer.

Ein Fön wäre Klasse und ein kleines bisschen besser aufräumen... Vielleicht... Schon sehr besondere Atmosphäre.

Rooms were very spacious and well maintained. Beds were comfy. Staff were quite accommodating and helpful.

It is far out of Galway proper but easy to get to with a car. Water temperature for the shower does fluctuate but if you follow their instructions it's easy to manage.

The rooms were huge. It has potential to be very nice.

Very damp and extremely musty smelling. We were directed to a kitchen before the host left the building, which I could not find. Except for the one common area, the place was very empty or there were clothes or random things scattered about. No wifi or amenities really; unable to contact host or our family as we did not have an Ireland SIM card. We had to go to the nearest town to get wifi to cancel our second night. I had also thought we were in Galway, but we were not in walking distance of any stores or restaurants.I have tried contacting him at least three times and left a note in the door for a refund on the second night; but he has ghosted us. I read it happened to another family.

Easy checkin, friendly host

Its a manor, not a castle and it is in need of a lot of repairs. Light bulb hanging from string in bathroom, lot of saggy floors. No amenities. Kitchen way down in basement. It wasnt what was expected, the house doesnt seem ready for PAID guests. We left after first night.
