Dhalaya Resort Udawalawe

Mooie ruime kamers, heel goede bedden! Zeer vriendelijke medewerkers en uitstekend ontbijt. Ze hadden ook een top safari geregeld voor ons. Lekker restaurant erbij waar je ook goeie espresso's kunt bestellen.

The bed were very comfortable and big, the room was very spacious, the AC was very effective, the staff were very friendly, the bathroom was very clean and I loved the shower and I liked the fact that there was only 6 rooms.

There was some building work going on, which was a big disruptive. The music in the restaurant was too loud and not appealing for the setting, the menu and the character of the restaurant was trying to appeal too much to Western tastes, there was not enough Sri Lankan influence. The staff in the restaurant were very accommodating however, it was a little bit chaotic at times for example at breakfast we had to ask for coffee three times before it arrived and we asked for some water and they only gave us two glasses when they were four of us.

Very nice, small cosy resort. Very new. Super friendly staff and delicious food. Good safari opportunities nearby, which the hotel can also arrange. Rooms looked brand New, beautiful and well maintained. Very comfortable. Lovely swimming pool. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to stay in Udawalawe and the surrounding area.

Lots of ants in the bathroom (there was less AC in the bathroom than the main room), a couple of (small) ants in the bed. I guess this is to be expected as you're in a very natural environment.

The team were very friendly, helpful and attentive. They looked after us well. The rooms were great - very comfortable beds ! The decor was nice; they were clean and well provisioned. The food was very good. We especially enjoyed the dinner. Renuka the chef and his team made up some yummy packs for our safari. We thought the position was fantastic- we could walk out of the property and see other attractions in the area with ease.

We were looking forward to using the pool and recreation area, however this wasn’t able to be used unfortunately. The management promptly recognised this and we appreciated their consideration.

Extremely kind and attentive staff who went out of their way to keep the hotel and restaurant open for us despite us being the only guests that night (out of season). Made such an effort to make a beautiful meal for us, even getting a dish from another vendor for us that they didn’t have in that evening that we really wanted to try. Great location for safari and opposite the elephant transit home.

We absolutely loved our stay at Dhalaya. The rooms were brand new and spacious. The staff were very kind and the food in the Hungry Monkey restaurant delicious - the best Sri Lanka vegetable curry we had during our travel!

Great location. Lovely pool.. Meals were served in a lovely thatched restaurant in the garden and really nice. We asked for some breakfast to take on our safari which was packed up for us. The hotel is almost opposite the elephant transit home which you can visit at feeding time. Nite- the transit home only accepts cash.Very pretty gardens in the hotel and friendly staff.

Nothing. It was very hot when we were there but the aircon was really good

Perfect room to stay for a night on safari. Restaurant on-site was nice. I would recommend the Sri Lankan food over the western options. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The best thing was the shower! The water pressure was amazing and the temperature steaming hot which had been missing in lots of other places we stayed in Sri Lanka. It was a short walk to the elephant transit home

The resturant was good. The safari was awesome. There are only 6 rooms in the whole hotel.

I booked this hotel for the water slide. Both were broken with rough concrete that would shred your back.
