Hotel Buenavista Bacalar Jungle Experience

Very quiet area - perfect spot for a small retreat. We enjoyed the hotel and the nice service. Didn‘t use the opportunity to do yoga though. But the pool was the gretest refreshment in the middle of the jungle (or at least it felt that way) 🙂 Go there by car is recommended

It is situated nicely, but the laguna is not in front if the hotel as we thought. You need to walk to a small other hotel and share the access to the laguna there. There were hardly any people, and we really enjoyed it after all!

Leti, the lady at reception was very kind. We had to leave very early in the morning, and she made the exception to prepare breakfast for us before the established time so we could leave on time. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, close to the lagoon, and they offer bikes, kayaks and paddle boards for free. Unfortunately, we could not enjoy the Yoga practice because we had to leave very early in the morning. We got recommended a 4-hour tour to Bacalar Lagoon that was the highlight of the stay. The hotel is nothing like I expected but in a good way. it’s slap bang in the middle of the jungle, 20 minds drive away from Bacalar, great hide-out away from tourists. Amazing and free yoga classes, gorgeous jungle cabins. lovely swimming pool. Authentic Mexican cooked breakfast

quality of dinner is a bit average

The location, the place, and how it is nicely immersed in Nature. The yoga classes were great as well.

The food could be much better, the quality of the dishes is not that great.

Staff were really friendly and helpful. The yoga class in the morning was amazing, really you should try it! I also book a massage which was wonderful, done in my room. The food was also pretty good as well as the breakfast. You have access to the lake and have the possibility to get a kayak which is also included in your stay. Overall a great experience and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

mosquitoes!!!

Hot water was plentiful and was readily available.

They don't want you to flush the toilet paper and use the bin to throw the used paper in a small bathroom and there is no air conditioning. Although it was clean, it didn't give us the comfortable feeling.

- Name of Hotel is misleading: It is 25 minutes away from Bacalar and the only view is into the forrest which starts directly at the premises of the hotel. And those end about five meters outside the room. The village where the hotel is, is called Buenavista. - We ordered some dinner and received burned food. - There are very, very, very, very many moskitos. It is almost unbearable to sit outside. Therefore we had our dinner inside the room which is nice but has only two beds and no table. - Worst of all: The hotel does not follow the cancellation policy as announced by booking in the reservation confirmation. They said that this is a standard phrase but not common practise. After our experience in the hotel we did cancel the remaining nights which still should have gotten us small reimbursement but they rejected it.

- dirty bed sheets, towels, plates and glasses at breakfast/dinner (they gave me a glass with pulp from the juice someone drank before me, they don't even bother to rinse the dishes properly and probably not using any soap) - breakfast (and dinner) is very bad (frozen overpriced food) and the conditions in which they cook are disgusting - the room with no A/C, bugs can enter through the gaps with the "walls" (the walls is made of wood, with loads of gaps) also very noisy because of this - the toilet not working properly and when you take a shower the water is everywhere, there is no curtain + the water doesn't try.. so you feel like in a small lake all the time you go to the toilet - sooo many mosquitos etc - swimming pool was full of leaves and no one was even trying to clean it - staff speaks ZERO english
