Misrepresented on website. Yoga and meditation -day of arrival we were told yoga was at 5pm every day (but not the day of arrival), next day we were told there was no yoga as teacher had an emergency, compensation was to walk round village we had already done (nothing there) and see some honey making (we declined). They advised good news yoga would be at 8am the next morning, we were up bright and early waiting, waiting….yoga teacher was on the way…yoga teachers transportation broke down. We were compensated with a massage (Rebecca was amazing, highlight) or dinner. We did have yoga @ 8am the next 2 mornings with Angela (excellent, she teaches in Bacalar…should have stayed there and gone to her studio). -No meditation. -TV blaring with pop/rock/rap not the tranquil jungle feel. -Pool dirty, cannot see bottom, debris. -Food very mediocre, lukewarm warm, not value for money. -bedding towels of poor quality -beach club is a joke, you are greeted by a very vicious dog who had to be restrained, floating sunbed in the lagoon, no cushions, broken paddles…only one kayak and paddle board available…definitely not a bonus to stay. -emailed Buenavista and no reply after one week. Left a day early.

Luc was very friendly on arrival and throughout our stay. He tried very hard to make up for the short comings of the accommodation. The location is quiet and away from any hustle and bustle of the town and road. The restaurant on site is limited but the staff are friendly and do their best with what they have.

We booked because the hotel was marketed as meditation and yoga with kayaks and paddle boards available for use. On our first day the yoga instructor didn’t turn up (Luc made up for this with a free massage and dinner). A alternative yoga instructor was provided for the following two days. We were told that there was only one working single person kayak (not great for a couple) and one paddle board. These could be used from the beach club a short walk away. The beach club was awful, and guarded by an aggressive dog which had to be restrained when we tried to get to the lagoon. Would advise avoiding the beach club as there are much better options in town. The swimming pool at the hotel wasn’t clean and the steps into the pool were broken. The sheets on the bed were completely stained with what looked like rust spots and the towels were ripped and frayed. Although not a fault of the hotel, the bugs are an issue. Luc and his staff are trying to help by lighting fires and providing spray but we were all bitten every night. The hotel feels like it needs some investment, Luc is trying his best but the place needs work.

What I like of the hotel was that it was peaceful

I didn’t like it it’s too far from the city Bacalar they don’t have tv in the rooms also they don’t have air conditioners. And there’s a lot of mosquitos you can’t be outside at all. The pool was very small and didn’t look clean like in the pictures. The breakfast was also not good.

We hotel itself is beautiful, located in the jungle. Relaxing atmosphere, good breakfast. Nice wide terrace. We booked a sailing boat trip to the lagoon from the hotel and it was perfect. Additionally I enjoyed the yoga class at 8am on the upper deck!

Keep in mind, that the hotel is a bit apart from Bacalar town and other attractions, so coming here by a car is a good idea. Where are some sunbeds near by the pool, but unfortunately they are not in use (no cushions, stacked in the corner), i think it would be great if guests have opportunity to lie down and relax.

Beautiful hotel with a jungle vibe, bonfire to enjoy with friends, sleep in complete silence. The owner and the staff are very nice!

The property was absolutely lovely. It really gave you a sense that you were in a secluded jungle. You hear all the peaceful jungle noises, while feeling safe and sound in your bug screened cabin. Loved the amenities including the pool and fire pit. They share a private pier so you can access the lake. The pier is super cute! It also has a resident cat named Michi! so be sure to give him a pet!

The parking area is quite steep, we needed a run up with our front wheeled drive. It's a bit buggy, so bring bug spray! I was excited to check out their yoga session but the instructor had called in sick. However, they did not inform us of this even though we inquired about it earlier in the day. It was fine, we just did it ourselves. It has a beautiful view. I can imagine some pretty epic sunsets from there. Only downside is that the water tank is a bit noisy when people are showering? so not sure if they could do anything about it.
