Caritas Rest

Great stay at Caritas Rest! Very close to the bus stand, railway station and Galle Fort. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable place. I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit.

The location of the stay was the highlight..around 150m to railway station and 200m to the bus stand. The caretaker boy was also very helpful and kind..I would highly recommend this place if you want a budget stay near the railway station and bus stand

There was no hot water in the shower

it's located in city center near Galle Fort

The rooms are in a building that is next to the Catholic Church and forms part of the church property. Father Michael and his staff were very friendly and welcoming and the rooms were large and airy with aircon. The bed and pillows were comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The door to the building is locked at night with a watchman on duty so you felt safe. There is a kitchen with kettle in the hallway outside the bedrooms that could be used by guests. It was a 10 minute walk to Galle Old Town and 2 minutes from Galle train station from where we got the train to Colombo. Lots of shops and places to eat nearby.

The window in the bathroom was open slats with no glass or mesh so you have to keep bathroom door closed as no other way to keep mozzies out.

Very spacious, clean room with A/C. In a nice location in walking distance from the bus station, train station and Galle Fort. Good facilities in the kitchen.

Staff were not very welcoming but I think that was due to a language barrier so it was minor. No laundry facility was limiting for a solo traveller.

Mosquito net was a bit small and the isolation is not very good so you can feel the heat and hear noises from other rooms.

The atmosphere is calm and grounded in values of human dignity, regardless of religion or ethnicity.
