Relaxed Apartments Haarlem

Communication was very good and door access was well communicated. Nicely set up apartment and great facilities with washer and dryer - this was a key reason in booking this apartment.

The bathroom was a little dark - but not a problem.

The following issues are minor but attention to them would lead to an excellent review! 1. No table knives so we had to use back of spoon to butter bread.  2. No washing up liquid.  3. No hand soap in kitchen nor by bathroom wash basin .  4. Lovely shower but could drain better - outlet may be blocked?  5. Bathroom door floor strip loose.  6. No coasters & only 3 bowls.

Nice location in a quiet, picturesque location near the historical center and train station. Overall clean. Bed for two and bedding were comfortable. The kitchen had dishes and cutlery, as well as a small selection of coffee capsules. It was easy and convenient to communicate with the owner.

A folding sofa as a sleeping place, of course, is not very comfortable. The TV remote control accidentally fell behind the sofa; when I looked there, unfortunately it turned out to be not at all clean. The apartment is too small for three guests, I would recommend groups of no more than two people. The heated towel rail in the bathroom did not work, so it was difficult to dry the towels after the first use, as well as your clothes if you occasionally need a small wash. We were lucky and the weather was mostly sunny, but during the rains I think the apartment might suffer from damp. View of the courtyard and parking.

Instructions to get access were good but be aware there are different rooms under the heading of Relaxed Apartments. We stayed in “Frans Hals”. It is a 4 roomed ground floor unit: bedroom, kitchen, living room and bathroom. It faces onto a courtyard parking lot. Find the right apartment. Good location Linen clean looked clean The fridge is large enough and appeared clean

There are instructions were about the pull out sofa bed. It said the fitted sheet was to stay on the mattress as it was the mattress protector and then flat sheets used to sleep. We pulled out the bed and there was no cover what so ever. The mattress smelled weird, was covered in stains and little bits of ??? - food maybe. Nothing moving so that was a plus. The link for the Relaxed Apartments website sent to us by the owner doesn’t work. Bathroom smelled terrible; hard to use it, it was so bad. There is a very strong mildew odor topped off with sewage smells. We found moldy tile grout and cracked and peeling paint on the bathroom ceiling. The toilet seat mount is broken. The seat can swing right off the bowl so be careful. There is a windowed door and a very large window in the kitchen. The door has a roll blind kitchen has nothing. To get from the bedroom to the bathroom you pass the kitchen window and go through the living room. Not very private. We hung a sheet as a curtain using old tape left by others who had done the same thing. We struggled to get the TV to turn on. All we could get were error codes in Dutch that we couldn’t translate. I tried calling the owner a couple times with no answer. Finally we unplugged the whole unit. That reset everything and the HDMI 1 option got us in. Each time the TV is turned off it goes into standby mode and the black router zip tied to the back of the TV has to be reset. There is a button on it for this purpose. Called and left another message that we got it working. The next day got a reply from the owner Erik which said he had forgotten his phone at home and missed all our calls. The whole place was dirty. All the walls have nicks and marks but they are also filthy. The kitchen has a coffee maker and kettle but a toaster would have been handy. The induction cooktop worked well. There is a microwave but it was so dirty I didn’t want to use it. The pots had hardened food on them.

quiet, secure, clean, comfortable, well equipped for simple food prep , good sized table and chairs. and easy walk with backpacks to the city centre and station.

The sofa bed had some unsupportive spots. It was difficult to fold away.

Nice, clean apartment perfectly located in lovely Haarlem. Very convenient to reach by bus or train. In advance we received some tips what to see and where to eat. We enjoyed our stay!

Entry instructions good. Safe courtyard to store bikes but not undercover. Small and reasonably well equipped kitchen area Maybe a little too small for the four adults which we were accommodating but good value and very handy for a night .

Sofa bed a bit squeaky. Electric sockets need some attention - some are loose.
