Relaxed Apartments Haarlem

Loved the space and the lighting. All necessities were available. It was clean and tidy.

No windows! It's understandable seeing the location and I think it must have been a shop before. Just one large one at the front, but I didn't open the curtains for privacy.

The appartment was dirty and uncomfortable. When I complained I was told housekeeping stopped by but couldn't see the problem.

Address given is not the actual entrance to the property, which is actually on the back side in a parking area. Access on foot is not clear from the instructions. We only found the door by calling customer service and then walking around to the back while toting suitcases and stepping around patrons at the nearby cafe.

When we finally found the door, access code did not work. We again called customer service and they told us how to find the manual key. Once inside, we couldn’t figure out how to operate the air conditioner and we again called customer service. They told us the manager would call, we waited over an hour for a call back, then went to dinner. Manager finally called but we were at dinner. He asked us to call via WhatsApp when we were back at apartment, we tried 3 times with no answer. We figured out how to turn on air conditioner but were dismayed to find that it only worked in bedroom. We made a reservation for 3 people but there were only 2 towels. We asked the manager for another but this request, too, was ignored. Facility has a microwave oven but the electrical cord does not reach the outlet. To use it, you must lift the microwave from the over head shelf to a lower counter top to plug in.

Great location, close to the shops & central square. Spacious & airy and beautifully clean. Friendly & accommodating host.

Slightly noisy at night for those sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room.

The location was quiet, the apartment was spacious with a table to work from and a large bed. It was scrupulously clean.

It is billed as an accessible apartment - the electronic keypad to enter the door is too high for a wheelchair user to use it. Nothing is at wheelchair height in the property, there are no grab rails in the bathroom and no shower seat. The only way this is an accessible apartment is that it’s not up stairs. There was no hand soap or dish towel/dishrack to dry dishes. The apartment feels like many small but important details have been missed. Like the fact there’s a skylight directly over the bed which has no curtain or way to block out the light. The electrics in the bedroom are also odd in that sometimes the main light would work, sometimes it wouldn’t based on a switch next to the bed, the lamps are also connected to the switches and it was a real puzzle to figure out how to get the configuration of light that I wanted. The air conditioner is completely overwhelmed by the warmth delivered by the skylights (which would be radically improved with sunshades!) Finally, the owner was quite rude to me when I had trouble navigating to the building upon arrival. He talked over me, shouted at me to “read the email, it’s all in the email” and when I said the email was unclear and that I didn’t appreciate the way he was speaking to me he told me it was very annoying that people didn’t read the email which he thinks clearly lays out all of the information. If it was so clear I wouldn’t be calling him, I wouldn’t be lost and his understanding as a local is distinctly different from my experience as a tourist. He ended up hanging up on me when I told him he was being rude and did not contact me again except a series of automated emails when I checked out. He’s the primary reason I give such a low score.

Clean apartment in quiet location. Very easy ground level access. Great local options for meals and drinks.

A bit cramped when the sofa bed is out. It is about a 20 minute walk to the station-no issue if visiting Haarlem but something to keep in mind if visiting Amsterdam.
